Haha, nice. I hope I'll make the transition to Linux by the end of this year. I'm probably going for Arch or Manjaro.

Other than when you first built or purchased your computer you shouldn't really need to be installing a bunch of new drivers.
For your video card maybe, if it's new enough and there is a new game you can get some benefit from it.
Other than that you should only update if you have an issue of some kind.

Sorry, can't really contribute to this topic besides telling you this: From what I have read you have to be cautious because many driver update programs try to install crapware. Stay clean. ;)

just download speccy... google speccy.... it will tell u the names and serial numbers of every component in your computer as well as their temperatures if your interested in stuff like that... then just take the names of when hardware you wanna update and google it or go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers for it manually...

no reason to make someone money by using their program when you can do it yourself lol

Don't .. just don't. The only drivers you should be updating are the ones for your GPU for the rest apply the rule "if it's not broken don't fix it", when it is borken ... fix it by hand don't use any of those programs they will only make things worse.

Don't use any driver update programs. A lot of them are sketchy, install incorrect drivers, or even redirect you to websites in order to try to get you to purchase shit.

Windows update will download drivers for most things. For these, windows will usually automatically update the drivers once new ones come out (provided you run windows update). For hardware that requires drivers windows update will not give you, go to the manufacturer's website and download them.

+1 for no reason to be messing around with installing drivers or programs to do it for you. The only thing you need to update is video card, and that does it for you automatically as released.

I used to use iobit driver booster, but then for some reason after a few weeks of use the program wouldn't launch at all.
So I just uninstalled it, since I decided there's no point in updating drivers that don't need an update.

They update it so much you have to keep re-downloading it.

well, many moons ago I use to use a prog called "Everest", it was easy to use, gave complete details on all your installed hardware and provided links to the retailer webpages for software and driver downloads. It provided several tools for any performance issues you may have as well. However, I heard they discontinued that make, but I heard the same company came out with another, just different name ... maybe google Everest and see if it comes up? I've come a long way since then with computer builds and just manually install any drivers, if need be .. but that's my suggestion. They may still offer a free version to it?

I dont use any program. You dont really need one, the GPU one is updated automatically, the sound card one too (if you have one) and essential ones are updated by Windows itself.
