If your current graphic card is broken you computer will not even boot in windows. So search for the problem to fix it.

It would, providing his motherboard has onboard graphics.

The monitor should not be black even with a onboard graphics. A game works or it will not.

But you are still in windows so the card is not broken. AND IF you have an onboard card... The game should run on that too even with 5 FPS you will get image.

"But you are still in windows so the card is not broken"?

Rubbish. A graphics card can be faulty without affecting the system's ability to boot. It depends on exactly what is faulty - not whether something is.
