I know, it sounds crazy, but let me explain.

To my knowledge, there is an ancient artifact hidden somewhere around Central America. It is doubtlessly valuable and I know that more than of you would like it for themselves.
I have no problem with that. I am not in the mood for adventures - but you are, I can see it! So here it is: This is all I know about the location of this ancient artifact. It is a photograph of an ancient aztec tablet. See if you can make sense of it.

There were five pictures all in all, but two were destroyed during the dig. Here's what we have.

The first picture seems to be the Central American coastline. Below it we see a bar and 4 dots.

The second one is destroyed beyond recognition - a shame really, and a great loss. The lab guys did futz around with some of their equipment and informed me that they think it was the lost symbol for "b".

The third one is a picture of a dead man in armor. Below it there is a single dot.

The fourth one.... man, that gives me the shivers just looking at it. It's a picture of a dreadful being and I think in the background that's Venus rising. Below this one there are three bars and three dots.

The last one, yet again, tragically destroyed, but it seems to be a mirrored version of the second one.

EDIT: Maybe it would help you if I told you that we found this plate within the sacrificial room of an ancient temple? Not a temple to a certain deity, mind you - they were worshipping pretty much whatever in there.

EDIT 2: After shouting algorithms around the lab and just stopping short of throwing their own feces the computer guys gave me this. Maybe that thing can help.

Well. That's all we have. Try to find it before the week is over - I need this tablet back by the weekend. Good luck!

What? Of course you may work together. Do as you please, but remember that there's only one artifact to be found.

Should the hints tell us the capitalisation of the code?

I'm new to this SteamGifts site stuff. Am I supposed to know what to do with whatever result I think I might be able to find? Or will there be hints/information later on?

Nope, this is all you get. You will need to find 5 characters to make up the giveaway code, then visit http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/XXXXX (obviously replacing the X with the code you found).

Solved it. Forgot about it. Not worth it. Although everything is not what it seems.

What do you mean not worth it?

Um... OK. Feel free to leave a comment on the giveaway page.

And if you think it's not worth it, why did you work on it at all? The game was clearly stated.

Are you sure the fourth one is correct? If it is correct I'm probably trying to solve it the wrong way.

I've been thinking the same haha.

Sure. Why not? Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a coop game, after all ;) However it is against the rules to post full answers here, so you might want to collaborate via external means if you have found the answer. Speculation and whatever? Sure, put it in here, I don't mind.

Thought it was morsecode, but the fourth one doesn't work and "6BE:D" makes no sense >_<

Then I thought the clues were in the pictures you described, Central American Coastlines...Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Panama (and the Panama Canal)...what the?

I'm not even sure what I'm looking for, the exact location, a country or just trying to decode the puzzle. XD

I believed it was morsecode as well. And I thought I was quite clever when I figured that the mirrored b wasn't a d. A b in morsecode is -... which when mirrored is a V. But I wasn't so smart as I thought haha. But if everything is "not as it seems" as someone said ealier, we are probably way overthinking this.

I also googled several coastlines haha.

Protip: Morse code was developed around 1850, I think. The aztec were around in the 14th to 16th century.

Hm... google tells me Aztec used bars and dots for numbers but 3 bars and 3 dots is 18 and that doesn't fit my idea lol...

TH;DS (too hard, didn't solve).

Comment has been collapsed.

Too hard?

I think I gave enough clues... think about it: There's a combination of a picture and a bar/dot thingy. It's supposed to be aztec in origin and has something to do with deities. I think if I said more I might as well have started a public giveaway ;)

The fourth one, a diety in Aztec mathematics is 8000, so the actual number is 8018...

I thought the symbol for 8000 was supposedly a bag or pouch?

8000 is a pretty low number for gods...

This is driving me crazy... And then you give extra hints for #2 and #5? Those were the only easy ones :P

I really really have no idea how to piece together an image with a number (the bars and dots), and somehow come to either a letter or a number. Have Googled for everything related to Aztecs (calendars, numbering system, religious dates, etc) and nothing seems to help me any further.
