Yesterday I won in two invite-only GAs. However, when trying to activate the keys, I get a message that an error occured. I'll try to translate it from German: "Your subscription to the following items has not been completed". But there is nothing listed under it, so I have no idea what to do now.

I never had an error like this, and it's the same for both of the keys. Regarding the fact that others already said thanks, it does not seem to be a general problem. I tried a quick google search but it didn't really help me.

Anybody got an idea? Thank you in advance!

What games? There are a few that will activate everywhere but Germany.

These are the games:
Fearful Symmetry
1000 heads among the trees

Steam does not display something special for Germany regarding these.

Remove the links from your reply. Just list the name of the games.

I haven't heard of any locks on those games. Might be a Steam glitch, so try again later. Then leave a message on the giveaway if they won't work.

Also, can you post the error in German, someone who speaks it may have a better idea what the exact equivalent is in English on Steam.

Region restricted keys maybe? Screenshots may be helpful

Close and reopen client, for a start. It can sometimes bug out. Also kinda sounds like the server time-out bug that happens when Steam servers are bugging. That'd explain why two different games (which you won at the same time, and presumably attempted to activate at the same time) would bug out.

Could of course always still be a strange regional issue or issue with the keys. :X

And if that doesn't work, contact the GA creators. There might be a problem with the keys he got themselves.

tried several restarts

If it doesn't work with one, rebooting your computer'll usually do the trick. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

Glad it worked out without further issue. ^.^

I'm not that dumb, would have done it anyway, but I was playing League of Legends in the meantime, so there was no way to restart the whole computer. :-p

I'm not that dumb

Simple things can often completely slip past us, especially when we're distracted. If there's shame in that, then I should be as ashamed as anyone- obvious things slip my attention pretty regularly. I wasn't apologizing because I thought it a critical bit of info that you wouldn't have gotten on your own, but because my mentioning it may potentially have saved you a bit of time. :)

And yeah, I totally get not wanting to restart- I mean, having to shut down all of the things?!

I didn't mean to sound harsh - but I guess you know that.

However, I admit I would have been a bit ashamed if I could have fixed it with just a restart. That's why I tried it at least one time before posting here. Well, no need to talk about this anymore, problem was solved. :)

Has happened to me recently. Steam freaks out for some reason. If restarting Steam does not work, try again after a few hours, or the next day.

Also, check if the games are actually added to your library, even if the error persists. Happened to me once with a key. Don't forget to mark as received then. :)

Tried some restarts until it worked. Instantly marked as received for sure. :)

It happened to me 3 times already. Check your library for these games. Despite error, they might have been added to your account.

Yep, that was the case after some restarts. It then said that this product already exists in my account, looked it up and it good added "today". Thanks.

Steam is having issues at the moment. Some Steam-related programs and websites are fucking up too.

Yeah, someone pinged me - "was I getting spammed with them playing a game?" - dratted pop-up was freaking out. A restart fixed it... er well, the third restart fixed it. Anyway, glad it finally worked!
