just because you had a bad luck with gigabyte does not mean they are junk

i have used gigabyte several times without issue and currently have a gigabyte board and gigabyte video card

i think the choice for boards will be down to what features you will use the most

and as far as usb 3.0 i have had no issue using mine, and fast transfer well fast as my mechanical drives will allow

i had people tell me MSI was junk yet i had a MSI motherboard with no issue and an MSI video card with no issues yet was told it was junk

to many people judge products with very little use they are mass produced and every brand has its good and bad boards but in the end asking someone what is good and what is bad is a crap shoot at best because it is still someone opinion on the product you go to any forum and just as many will call one brand junk while another the best and vice versus

what do you want do with the board and what will you be doing with it?
do you plan to over clock?
are you using it for high end gaming?

the ASUS is meant for gaming enthusiast and from what i hear is a pretty solid board

while the Gigabyte is more geared toward someone who does not want a basic board but does not need a high end gaming board

imo this is a good board for gaming for 99.99
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/msi-amd-970-gaming-am3-motherboard.html

but the ASUS is a good choice if your looking for more gaming enthusiast if you want a high end gaming board then you could step up to a ASUS MAXIMUS VII FORMULA

but if you just want a decent gaming board but do not need anything fancy a 970 would be good

had 20+ Asus mobo so far. NONE of em failed before 5 years. I saw many ecs fail. msi also is failing proportionnally equally to gigabyte. I saw asus of course, but proportionnally less than the others. Service with asus and msi is way beyond the rma process of giga. I agree with you 970 fits the bill perfectly.

I've had a lot of great luck with ASUS motherboards. I have the Sabertooth right now and had I had the extra money at the time, I would have went for the Formula board.
