Hey y'all, no goodies here (but here tho), however i wanted to vent out a little because i got fired from my job today. Yes, that one

No reason at all, i was hired on a 3-month test before actually signing a full contract (and according to my country's laws, they can kick you without reason on that 3 month time)

Anyways, i want to know how to cope with this while i search for a new job. My anxiety is already kicking in because i have to take care of me and my mom, who isn't working at the moment.

Thanks, and sorry if this is off-topic or shitposting; i'll delete it if it's neccesary. Cheers :)

Sorry to hear that you lost your job. I think it's rotten that they're able to fire you for any reason they feel like (I believe it's like that here in Canada as well). As long as the person is doing a good job, then why not allow them to have the job?

I don't really view this as shitposting, so I don't think it needs to be deleted.

Yeah, they gave me the "oh we're laying off people we can't cope with so many" yet they keep hiring new people so they can fire them on that 3 month basis and so and so and so...

As i said, no reason and the law says: "Art. 92 bis. - The employment contract for an indefinite period, except for the one referred to in article 96, shall be deemed to have been concluded during the first THREE (3) months of validity. Any of the parties may terminate the relationship during that period without expression of cause, without the right to compensation for the termination, but with the obligation to pre-advise."

Also, thank you.

Maybe they do that to avoid paying you for full time (the insurance and benefits).

Yeah, many companies do it for cheaper costs / no benefits. Good luck and try to find another job, it really wasn't your fault.

You lose a job but in ways be glad you don't longer work for such a shitty company, there will be others.

Well, that's a shitty movement many, many companies do. Those companies see people as disposable anytime, Be careful on your next job.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your job, that's never easy. :(

Give yourself a break and take the time to relax and get focused for your next job! Maybe something better will come along! You never know. In the mean time, if you are worried about struggling through the time, no doubt your local community has resources like food banks and pantries if you need food in a pinch. If you are worried about bills, call the company and ask if they will do a payment plan for the next few payments till you get back on your feet. Most importantly, take a deep breath and take care of yourself. You can't take care of anyone or anything else if you don't take care of you first. Now you have more free time, don't forget to relax and have some fun too. Maybe go do something with your mom!

My two cents. Best wishes.

Do what is logical to do at this point: search for a new job, see if there are any means that can help you with bills and food and stuff if needed, see if your resume can use some polishing.

But also do what your heart needs to: it's OK to allow yourself to feel a bit disheartened, or even waiver a little. Talk with your mom, if possible, don't carry this alone. Nobody needs to be a warrior 100% of the time.

I'll tell you what I tell myself: nobody can guarantee that I'm in the "things will get better" category and not in the "tough luck, things will not get better" one. But, if I am indeed in the first category, I owe it to the people whose luck will not be at their side to not lose hope and do the best I can.

I'm sorry you lost your job. But you didn't really get fired -- it had nothing to do with you. So keep your head up, try to stay in good spirits, and keep an eye out for the next opportunity!

Unfortunately it often costs a company less, and is much more convenient, to have a continuous stream of workers in their 3-month "trial period", rather than hiring workers permanently. Especially in certain types of work. It's a little shady, but the bottom line is the only thing most companies care about these days.

I think the most important thing is to not feel "guilty". You know that thoughts that come to mind: "if I had done this, if I had done that...".
It's just speculation and there is in all countries. They probably get public subsidies (or a tax discount) when they hire new people and so they continue to hire and fire. Stay strong ♥

One of my friends got fired 5 months 29 days into his job, his additional work benefits like health/dental insurance and life insurance was to be activated after being employed by the company for 6 months.

Could be the same case for you?

That's pretty brutal, I wish you the best of luck in your next job. As many other have said already, don't take it personally, a fair number of companies will just cycle through people, it's cheaper than having to deal with paid holidays/healthcare/general benefits. Doesn't make it any less scummy though but still.

It is Off Topic, but that's what that category is for.
Just take it easy, try to relax and set up a routine for looking for another job. Send emails and resumes, network to find out if anyone is aware of a position you can fit into, etc. It can take a while unless you find a smallish company which you can start working swiftly at.

Suerte en la búsqueda.

That absolutely sucks - I know how bad it can be. The same thing happened to my girlfriend, for probably the same reason as yours - though I have a sneaking suspicion it's also because she made the '''''mistake'''' of talking about me as her girlfriend. Because of the 3-month probation period, though, there was nothing that could be done about it. She called me in hysterics and it broke my heart how hard it was for her.

Please try to keep your head up, and not take it to heart. The job hunt sucks so so much but it'll be okay. It's so good of you to be looking out for your mom. Do your best to take care of yourself and you'll get through this.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone is supportive of LGBTQ people and my tongue slips. I've only lost one friendship so far, can't imagine how awful it is to lose a job because of it.

I don't see any reason to delete this post. It seems like a decent topic to me. Sorry to hear about you losing your job, but there is a silver lining. You are now free to find a job where they will appreciate your hard work. You've been successful at finding work, before, and you can do it again, God willing. Knock on doors, shake hands, try to arrange interviews. You can do it! D
