So I'm having a really shitty day today.

First I slept through my alarm and was late to a meeting and my boss was hugely pissed at me. This resulted for me to have to deal with the biggest and most annoying guests you can only imagine (I work as an assisstant of management in a hotel).
Well, after dealing with their bullshit for 5 hours I finally went home just to realize I lost my debit card somewhere. I have 4 Euro cash on me, yay.

Then finally at home I thought maybe a nice warm shower would lift my spirits. Just sucks there are construction workers in front of my house right now and they kinda fucked up and end of the story is I don't have warm water anymore (coldest shower I ever had).

As if that's not enough for one day I got an email that my exam for tomorrow morning will be held in another part of uni, meaning I'll have to get up at 6 am just to make it in time.

And the worst thing is .. I don't have any wine to drink and no cash to buy it :(

Try to sleep. I know it sucks, but you'll feel sooooo much better when you wake up, because

a) Sleeping will clear your mind and reset your mood at least a bit. When I totally lose my shit, I do whatever I can to pass the fuck out and when I wake up I always feel better.

b) If you sleep now (depending on what time it is, this won't work if it's like 2pm where you are haha) you'll get plenty of sleep in before that 6am start so you won't feel like shit in the morning!

You have an exam, right? Study that shit til it bores you to death. That way you're drilling it into your head so you'll do good at the exam, but you'll also make yourself tired. Preferably do this with textbooks/stuff on paper. Staring at the computer all night isn't gonna help you sleep. Or, install f.lux which tints your display to simulate indoors lighting at night, which helps you get ready for bed.

Also, find a Pranayama (yoga breathing) app/website/whatever (I use Breathing Zone for iOS/Android) which helps you gradually slow your breathing down which chills you out and helps you relax. Plus listening to the sounds/voice prompts to tell you to breathe in and out gives you something to focus on other than how shitty your day was. I usually find myself super relaxed and falling asleep after using that for about 10mins.

Anyway, for the short term, you can listen to this. I like to sing the chorus with my friends whenever one of us needs cheering up. Also, when you have the time, just watch some funny videos and appreciate what you do have. I recommend that you check out Key and Peele on youtube!

People telling this person to get a better perspective or get over it need to get some empathy. Yes, there are terrible things going on in the world, and yes, a crappy day like OP described doesn't even compare to poverty, famine, sickness, or systematic oppression, but it doesn't mean that OP's feeling down is any less valid.

Maybe call a friend and tell them to cheer you up? They should know what to do to make you feel better than some random sg users :)
