"Unreal: Gold" = The original Unreal with addon?
Would be interresting to look at it once again from a modern perspektive.. back then I liked it very much, but it got smacked very hard with the release of Half-Life, that changed everyting I knew about first-person-shooters.

Well just look at UT3/UT3:Black... awesome game (I own a used copy I got for cheap on my PS3 since my PC specs weren't good enough at the time and the PS3 version of the game allows you to import some PC assets like maps and stuff, how cool is that?) but I don't remember it selling that well. Then again UT2003 will still be my favorite out of all the unreal games... that's the first time that I felt Epic had truly outdone anything id Software had done or was doing.

Nope, they broke a couple guns, made it slower, etc...
I feel like only a couple people noticed the bad choices made to the game in 2004...

well - slowing triple-charge of rocket launcher was good thing imho - triple rockets were OP. Yet IO can agree they broke some things as well - in UT2k4 the green-slimy-gun was useless due to too slow fire ratio.
Yet again - maps with vechicles were soooooooo awesome... ;P

Shock sniper was nerfed also, so was another gun besides the slim gun, forgot the name, shot laser particles fast and a stream of lasers.
That and run speed was slower, the game just felt slower and I noticed right away, was not s fan of the vehicles or that mod of play, honestly UT3 did the vehicle aspect tons better but that game had issues also....and a terrible start that cut the population in half or more.

UT 99 GOTY edition is the best, and there is stil people playing it ^^

I also think that UT 99 GOTY is the best of all the UTs. If it had some current gen graphics it would be near of perfection.

We just got Tribes: Ascend and we have Quake Live. Those types of games are still being made...just not as many, sadly.

I can't take Quake Live seriously... first they tried to jam ads into a browser-based game (nothing wrong with that, just stating the facts) and then almost went under when the ads were pulled. If it had been a project by a smaller company it would have been pulled.

Tribes is fine and all but I miss arena shooters...no new ones that are well populated, I had hope for Nexuiz but they dropped the ball, good core game though, better then UT3 if you ask me.

So.. yesterday i bought the unreal deal pack, and started playing Unreal: Gold, and it's awesome!
