My uncle is gonna buy me a 3DS XL with Fire Emblem Awakening and Pokemon Y in USA in Gamestop or Costco, and I remember when I bought my DS Lite I got a free game with it (Transformers, they let me choose between Autobots or Decepticons version.)

So my question is, can anyone from US confirm if a 3DS XL bought in Costco or Gamestop come with any free starter game? I also remember that a while ago the Gamestop website page for 3DS said you get Steel Diver for free but now it no longer says that.

Thanks!

P.S. Please recommend some more good games :P

You use the search bar on top like type "3ds bundle" or something like that

I haven't heard of any free bonus games that come from Costco and Gamestop. Great choices of games, though. :D

Huh, I guess it is pretty normal for a starter pack to come with the system.

I imagine that is something the in store rep would know!

Unless it's a store specific promotion or displayed on the box, the 3DS or 3DS XL do not come with games.

Won't you have to order NA versions of the games if you want more and live outside the US? I think 3DS games are region locked. Like if you get a US 3DS you will probably have to keep buying NA versions of the 3DS games to play them on that specific 3DS.

Yeah, you'll be able to import them fine but even paying for digital games tends to be a pain in the butt if you're overseas.

So games are region locked to their specific region of 3DS? I'm just trying to let him know that he would have to import them if they are.

Grab the phone number for a Gamestop or Costco location in the USA from Google Maps and call that.

Costco tends to give a big discount if you buy the system plus their separate 'Costco assembled these items' starter pack together. I don't know if Gamestop assembles their own bundles, but if they don't, then once Gamestop sells out of the bundles there aren't any more. Costco will keep bundling until it isn't cost effective.
