Same here, just click anything to get the badge, Valve give us nothing that motivates me to take my time to make the nominations seriously.

Same here. Also: I don't think I own any game released this year, making me not very qualified.

Yes i noticed if you dont have games released on 2019 you have to use a useless search bar. At least they should provided us a list of the releases.

Agreed. Though, even with a list, it's pretty pointless if you haven't tried/played any of those games. I just entered a few random letters and picked the first result that came up for every category. Turns out it doesn't even matter for the VR category, whether or not that game supports VR.

Same here, and it makes me feel unhappy tbh.
I'm a collector, always was, always will be. As such, I want to have that neat badge in my collection, but I don't play newly released games, don't really keep an eye on what's coming. I just have to pick some random shit, and that goes doubly true for the much hated (by me) VR category.

Altho I am not playing it anymore - Dota 2 for labor of love (todays patch made old players new players...its so big..), GOTY RE2 - haven't played it yet but watched many playthrus on twitch and youtube, best with friends CSGO - game that I am playing from time to time, other mostly random as 2019 wasn't really for me. The Most Innovative Gameplay Dota Underlords, biased little bit because I was long time Dota player but at same time this genre is new and Underlords innovated a lot upon it.

Same here, the Labor of Love one is a no brainer with the 1.4 update coming out the same day that the Steam Awards nominations.

yeah, not much deep investigation for games, not total random picks, but definitely don't know full catalog neither played most of them.

One game I got to play and review, the rest just... full on random.
Though it's odd searching 'hentai' gave me Nazi Hentai and I got an error trying to nominate it. Why offer it if I can't pick it Valve? Showcase your quality games you!

Disco Elysium for GOTY, Eastshade for visuals, A Plague Tale: Innocence for gameplay - and that's it, I don't know what else to nominate. I don't care about that badge enough to vote for random stuff.

I haven't played any games released in 2019. I'm not even sure if there's a way to find out what games you own that were made in 2019. Maybe some kind of Steam Store filter.

I nominated Dreamfall Chapters for the one award that doesn't require a game released in 2019. Then I updated my review for it. So I at least got a level 2 badge with very little effort.

You can run your library through Lorenzo Stanco's filters to find games that were made in a specific year!

Thanks! I am passingly familiar with that tool, but didn't think of it in the context of filtering by release year.

I have exactly one game released in 2019: Flux Caves. I guess I'll be playing it. Thanks again! :D

Baba is You for:

  • Game of the Year
  • Most Innovative Gameplay
  • Best Game You Suck at

Well, and I have not played much more from 2019, really. But, still, Baba is You is really incredible.

Edit: wait, what? I cannot nominate the same game for 2 categories?!? Argh.

Kind of annoying isn't it? I came here looking for decent suggestions because I didn't want the nominations to be totally random, for some reason.

Yeah... I actually researched a little and picked:

Game of the Year: Disco Elysium
VR Game: Gorn
Labor of Love: Stardew Valley
Better with Friends: Vectronom
Innovative Gameplay: Baba is You
Story-Rich: Steins;Gate Elite
Game I suck at: Slay the Spire
Visual Style: Sekiro

But I played only 2 of these, so it is still kind of ridiculous. :(

"Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive" for GOTY (but thats a pretty hard choice, because there are so many great games this year)

"Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones" for Most innovative (and most bugged) gameplay. Even though the soul asks to put alongside the "Islanders".

"Tropico 6" for The Better With Friends

"Armello" for The Labor of Love

"A Plague Tale: Innocence" for The Outstanding Story-Rich Game. This game and this nomination are literally made for each other.

"The 13th Doll: A Fan Game of The 7th Guest" for The Best Game You Suck At (This is a absolute puzzle hell, which made me cry in pain)

"Blasphemous" for The Outstanding Visual Style (The most difficult nomination, because here you can easily nominate 10-15 games that look simply incredible in 2019. But Blasphemous must get something, since I didn’t make it the game of the year)

"WHO CARE" for The VR Game of the Year.

Shovel Knight gets Labor of Love for me. I can't believe they're still releasing free DLC with three (or more?) on the way for the discount price I bought it for several years ago.
