GTA 4 indeed, still doesn't play well enough to be able enjoy the game. Having a hard time with Metro 2033 too. Bought both of them 1.5 years ago.

I concur I got GTA IV Complete when it was on sale at Steam its nice to have it in my library now if it'll run well I'll be enjoying it but it blows. Metro 2033 runs nicely though.

Yeah, never had problems with Metro 2033.

GTA IV seems to be rather ubiquitous here. I also had hell with it. It ran, it just ran like crap.
Oh, speaking of Ubi... Splinter Cell actually plays worse (Convinction), is more poorly optimized (don't get me wrong... it runs like crap on the 360 as well), and follows the trend of poorly performing Ubisoft games (most of which were built on the Ubisoft engine so it makes no sense). Speaking of Splinter Cell, I have yet to get anything prior to Conviction to run properly.

Far Cry (first one). It overheated both of my computers, even so they can run Crysis on max.

lol, I ran Far Cry on Athlon 1600XP+ (1,4GHz), GeForce 2 64 MB and 256 MB RAM.

System Requirements

You have mistaken sth totally.

Or, he could have some weird drivers that doesn't work with Far Cry. Had similar thing with Radeon few years ago - it was able to run Mass Effect 1 without problems, but turning flashlight on in half life 1 dropped fps to 1.

Running Crysis on max but not being able to run Far Cry, something seems suspicious here... You realize Far Cry uses CryEngine 1 and Crysis uses CryEngine 2 right? If you can run Crysis on max you're set for a LOT of games.

Plenty of times, because of the lack of demos for pretty much everything. shakes fist

My old laptop was unpredictable at best. It ran Tomb Raider Anniversary, but couldn't even launch Bloodrayne 2, no matter what I did. :(

My new laptop plays everything though. So it's all good now. <3

Nope, I always check requirements and if there is an odd error I pretty much can fix it, don't remember ever having any real issues.

Must suck though to buy something and not be able to play it... :-/

Checking sys req isn't always accurate though. Had people who bought skyrim because they met the requirements... but then couldn't play. I, on the other hand, did NOT meet the sys req of skyrim but am able to play anyways. So.. it's not 100% accurate.

Anyways, no, personally I haven't ever had a game I couldn't play. Problems starting, crashes, bugs, etc.. sure but never had one that I couldn't get over with the help of Google.

Agreed. I bought the Titan Quest Gold pack thing and my old comp couldn't play it. My new comp DESTROYS the system reqs, but still... can't play. -.- Wish I could just do a giveaway...

Nope, just won't activate. Have tried pretty much everything. Read it could be caused by some kind of IE compatibility issue.. this is what happens when someone builds their activation software dependant on IE..

Take my game list, then all the AAA titles, 40% of those I can't play. Same for a good number of games I can't play sufficently well enough.

Either I can't play at all the games, they run too slowly, or I end up with weird glitches, like Assassin's Creed and huge brown / yellow curtains all over the map after the prologue.

GTA III; My tower back then didn't had any dvd drives. GTA III was one of the first games that needed a dvd-drive to install/play and I thought I should risk it. Turns out that it wasn't bullshit so I used a laptop with a dvd-drive (backup plan) and the lag was almost unbearable. I ended up looking at the ground to get better fps. I regret nothing.

I see no reason why you should be crying in a corner. Instead, you should be glad you didn't waste any money on it.

Yep, I bought Shogun 2 with all DLCs (without Fall of the Samurai which wasn't released at that moment) knowing I can't run it. It was extra cheap and at some point in the future I'll spend hundreds of hours in it like in old TWs so I didn't regret it even for a second.

Also, in the past I bought Grand Theft Auto 3 right after release, I think I played it 1,5 year later. And as a huge fan of Sapkowski's books I had to pre-order collector's edition of The Witcher. I played it... a year after release?

Ah, I totally forgot about Operation Flashpoint! However, I could run it on my Duron 400 with VooDoo 3, just land textures were not loading at all.

Batman Arkham City (Wife bought it for me for my birthday when it was >US$80 (we're in New Zealand)) and I couldn't play it for ~6 months until I'd upgraded my PC and they'd patched it so it worked with 64bit/DX11. By which time it'd dropped in price. FUCKING THANKS ROCKSTEADY.

Same with RAGE, well...it was at least playable on my old PC, but I wanted to give it the power it deserved. Graphically I mean. The story/gameplay is a bit... yeah.

Mafia II, all my fault. Actually played...ok...on lowest settings, but I reached a certain point and graphics glitches screwed the pooch. Crysis, more or less exactly the same, except it killed my graphics card.

A couple of the old Jedi Knight games didn't work when I last tried them, the player/NPC models were invisible. Sucks. Bought the pack hoping to relive some of my not-so-youth.

Well, I stayed up all night until the release of Super Meat Boy, only to find out that it needed a patch to work on my computer. Other than that, I currently can't play Just Cause 2, Driver: San Francisco, Magicka, Sonic Generations, and Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing until I build my new pc in a week.
