The odds are purely based on the number of entries for each giveaway. if you flip a coin 10 times you have an equal chance to get 10 heads, as you do to get 1 or none, its all about your personal luck against that of the other entrants.

1 heads is more likely than 10 or 0 as there are 10 different possibilities that lead to it.

statistically speaking you are wrong.

Given that coin flips are distinct, there is one sequence of flips that results in 0 or 10 heads and 10 equally likely sequences that result in 1 heads.

Nuh billy
The chance of getting heads on the first flip is 50%, then getting heads on the next one would still be 50%
Getting heads twice in a row = 50% of 50% = 25%

Now the funny thing is, the chance of getting tails on the second flip is also 50%, so 50% of 50% = still 25%

In the end, the chance of getting either 10 consecutive heads, or 9 heads and 1 tails are both roughly 0,097%
:D

I agree that the probability of getting heads followed by heads is the same as heads followed by tails, but that is not what was said.

Ways of getting 1 heads:

1/1024 chance of 0 heads, 10/1024 chance of 1 heads. If you think I'm wrong then you're also arguing that 10 heads is just as likely as 5 heads and 5 tails (its not).

OH RIGHT
nvm me
in a coin flip scenario the one coin supposed to be tails isn't attached to one position, making it one random free spot of 100% chance somewhere between the flips :v

(also, I think the coin flipping wasn't a very good example in the giveaway odds situation...)

You are wrong, you have 50-50 each time you flip a coin. Provided you flip a single coin the 10 times, you have 50-50 chance to have 10-0, 9-1, 8-2, etc.

If you flip 10 coins SIMULTANEOUSLY well, thats another story.

I have a 50/50 chance of 11 possible outcomes? Flip 1 coin 10 times and write down the result. Do this 1000 times and you will see you are wrong.

How does simultaneously make any difference at all?

This. I don't see how there could be any opinions.

You are more likely to win a giveaway with less entries, mathematically speaking the percentage is smaller. In the other hand if you enter a giveaway with only 100 entries you have 10% to win which is not much, if you enter one with 10.000 entries you have 0.1% to win and so on. It's like crates in TF2, you have 0.66% chance to unbox an unusual hat which worths several times the price of the key to open the crate, its a frigtheningly small chance. (I've won 4 gifts on steamgifts, all of them were below 700 entries) However everytime I enter a giveaway I think to myself "I have just as much chance to win as each and every person in the giveaway"

Yeah, even if 20.000 people entered SOMEONE will win. It's inevitable, no luck there :P

I won a game on Gameminer before that I win one on Steamgifts, and I had registered on Steamgifts long before.
I guess Gameminer is not as popular as SG, so there are less entries.

70+ giveaways entered, 1 win. Now, if it cost me money to enter each giveaway, not just the Contributor Only ones, then I'd complain about the odds, but it doesn't so it doesn't matter how often I win.

853 giveaway entries, one win, and that was back before 50 entries, never tried the other site so im not sure if id have better luck, but maybe im entering int he wrong way here, or just unlucky XD

I've won 3+ times as many games on SG as I have on GM.

SG entries to wins - 9997/70

GM entries to wins - 7879/20(2 of which were fake/not received giveaways)

Since I can't speak/read Russian, I also find this sites community and forum a lot more inviting.

There's also the fact that GM has a forum solely dedicated to the sale of entire Steam accounts, which I don't agree with...
