Didn't know that Shadowrun dates back to the SNES, I thought it started as a tabletop rpg.

It did start out on tabletop, they made two versions for home consoles later on, one was released on SNES and another was on the Megadrive (Genesis).

The Megadrive/Genesis version is also noteworthy for being one of the earlier attempts at open-world gaming (couple of years before GTA at least).

That's from HK right? It's gotten some bad press but I am willing to give it a try if I can purchase it discounted.

I have SR: Returns but have not played it yet. I hear Dragonfall is a less linear. Currently playing New Vegas so it will be a bit before I get around to trying Returns.

HK does seem to suffer from the curse that many 3rd-in-franchise games run into suffer from - the gameplay formula is starting to get a bit repetative. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though.
Most annoying thing on the whole by now, is that with every Shadowrun being a new game, the mods don't carry over very well. That means extra work for the modders, which may or may not happen.

It's got a some replay value also. There are a few places in which you can make a different choice which alters the story. Also playing a different class can change your gameplay quite a bit.

A tactical RPG, w00t! The setting seems quite interesting too, thanks

I loved this game. Although it doesn't have voice acting and there is quite a bit of dialogue I was drawn into the world of Shadowrun. To celebrate my ascendancy to level 4 I present to you Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut. May your runs be filled with fortune.
