well the 2+2=5 can be right with some things you must take concern such as what metric space you choose and the space width

yes karatheodoris caclulate the distance from a mark to the infinity that means badass and the 2+2=5 is wrong also boolean algebra 1+1=1

If he poses an equation without putting context, the context by default is standard algebra and in that context, you can only make 2+2=5 with abuse of rules and false application. Fact ;)

Let us disregard basic rules of mathematics to prove this insane equation.

This is just like the 0 = 1 and a like. Ignore math rules when inconvenient, apply them when convenient.

You might as well write "eggs = monkey's brain on tequila shots Friday morning in Antarctica" because I said so. You would be no more right.

Base 2 is binary. 2 is 10 in binary mate.

I just call all bases base 10 (the "10" also in base 10, so it's always correct).

Its actually 2,4 + 2,4 = 4,8 = 5.

Explanation:

Every decimal thats a 5 or higher will get rounded up to a whole (like 0,5 to 1). Every decimal lower then a 5 gets rounded down. Well think of it 2,4 + 2,4 = 4,8 = 5. The 0,4 of 2,4 is getting rounded down and represent the 2. The 0,8 of 4,8 is getting rounded up and represents the 5. Thus 2 + 2 = 5.

Except that you should only round up the result, after doing the calculations. Depending on the case, it may be allowed to round up the arguments before doing them.

But never both while doing them.

According to that logic, 2.5 + 2.5 = 5 AND 2.5 + 2.5 = 6.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No its not, 2,5 isn't the correct round up.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

x.5 is rounded up

But really, I've never heard of rounding before calculations are done and certainly not rounding both sides separately. That just leads to ridiculous errors

Actually my bad, its late.... I'll try to explain it, but it probably sound like I'm using LSD, so sorry if the next thing is nonsense...

The thing is, you're not rounding duribg the calculations. Its actually saying "2,4 + 2,4 = 4,8" is equal to "2 + 2 = 5".

Again sorry if I'm wrong, late night + maths doesn't go well with each other.

the only thing I can think of:
2 in binary = 10 + 10
5 in binary = 101

If u for example have a fuction f() that return the number of ones, then:
f(2)+f(2) = f(5)
also
f(2)+f(2) = f(6) ...

I know it's stupid but there are functions that count the number of ones, for example to aply on: hash, CRC, ....

2 + 2 ≈ 5

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

We use numeral symbols as follows

  • 1
    ** 2
    * 3
    **
    5
    etc.

Operator = as:
1 = *

And operator + as:

      • = **

These are insufficient proofs, but they are sometimes useful and I don't have room to proof those:

Now next statement is correct:
2+2 = 5
