Microsoft buys Mojang (Confirmed) For 2.5 Billion USD

Good for Mojang! But Microsoft?! Wasn't really there a better way to invest 2.5 billion dollars? Of course Minecraft was a good intuition, but is the actual expertise behind a sandbox block game really worth that much? Or maybe they are simply after the royalties and/or desperately trying to get Xbox One some kind of relevant exclusive. <.<

Only an assumption, but it seems that the sales are down with Minecraft. Everyone who's willing to pay $30 for it, they already own it.
Basically, either Microsoft won't make much profit out of this deal, either they'll release Minecraft 2, or either Minecraft will be on sale regularly. (75% off anyone?)

So? M$ way too late to the party as usual and Mojang wasn't exactly profitable in any way by selling an overrated pre-beta blunder, or was it?

While I doubt notch's cred would survive this, but I doubt he'd care having a chunk of 2.5bil dollars. But I gotta commend him for making the most out of his company; instead of it frizzling out leaving him without a money folk, he cashed it in big time.

I still think it's insane they are spending 2.5 million on this company. They could make like 2 or 3 new studios with this money, or they could even buy out some big companies like United Front Games, Sumo Digital, or something, make Sleeping Dogs exclusive.

If they are spending 2.5 million dollars I think it's 100% guaranteed they will make Minecraft 2 at some point. And it will probably be timed Xbone exclusive before coming on PC, and never come on Playstation.

Incoming Micro-transactions. Why mine for materials in dangerous survival mode? Just spend $1 and get them directly delivered to you!

How one wrangles $2.5 billion worth of value out of Mojang is beyond me. How is MS ever going to recoup that purchase cost?

played the demo was fun..

but its not on Steam so wouldn't bother dont like outside service much (like what happens if i loose my CD key etc etc)
