This sort of thing is why I try to avoid actively participating in the Steam community and don't generally participate in trading either.

I've just seen a startlingly high amount of people get banned, ask why, and not get told an answer. Granted pretty much everyone who contests a ban in every forum ever says they didn't do anything wrong, but far too many times Steam Support's reply is vague and nonspecific, which worries me.

dude, it might be that if you are into trading that someone made a similar profile to yours/linked to yours for a trade and then scammed someone, the guy got mad, searched for the profile and reported you instead of the real scammer (?). heard of such things happen, how can they ban you without telling you what for?

You most likely did something, you just don't know/realise what. People don't get arbitrarily banned for doing absolutely nothing (unless, of course, it was some scammer mix-up as some people mentioned, although that's not too likely I'd bet).

Either way, sorry to hear it. Hopefully you find out what happened (I'm curious about why they did it) and with any luck you can get them to lift/shorten the ban.

That sucks jeyko, sorry to hear that. Steam is doing all of this because of publishers are breathen down their necks. You have probably gifted something in the past that is now frowned upon and just now being punished, or Aliens.
