I purchased my key from TremorGames and when I redeemed it, I got an extra copy. Tbh, I only purchased it for the trading cards so I didn't really pay attention to the news feed CX.

Dev specifically stated it was their plan to not give out new version keys to card farmers and key traders, only active players. Your existing gift items will still actuivate the still functioning original version of aerena.

I don't know anything for sure but I would guess that the gift copies are redeemable. My guess is that they will just redeem the original game. Perhaps you can contact the devs and/or steam and see if they can get it changed for you.
Uh.. Now I'm confused. I own AERENA in my library but if I click "Store" from my library it doesn't take me to the Masters Edition but just to steam front page so I'm assuming I also own original. Not sure what the difference is. Also have a key for AERENA in my key list so.. not sure wtf that one does either lol.

I noticed the redirect as well. I honestly doubt the devs will upgrade the copies because I purchased the game on TremorGames for 75 coins, whereas the Master's Edition is now $13.

Twas no problem! I know there are some people with slow connections so hopefully they don't have to deal with lengthy loading times, as text doesn't take all that long. That, and I thought it looked pretty :3.

Silence Of The Sleep got my vote,although i almost voted for Galactic Civilizations® II: Ultimate Edition,i just thought over all that SOTS was a better over all choice and would be more popular.

Aerena and Aerena Master Edition are different things.
Aerena, the original version, and all its associated DLCs are still playable, but no longer available directly on Steam, that's why their pages all redirect to the store front now. The base game, being F2P, can still be added to any steam account via steamdb or browser console. The inventory gifts that most people have is the Base Founder Edition, which functions like any other DLC of the F2P game. They still work: you get some in-game unlocks that carry over to the Master Edition, and 2 card drops for the original F2P Aerena game. Unscrupulous traders have been trying to pass these off as the new Master Edition ever since the Master Edition update.

Question: Last month, the normal edition of AERENA was replaced by AERENA - Masters Edition because of a sales model shift. Prior to the change, I had purchased AERENA and received giftable copies for it. After the change, the copy in my library did not convert to the Masters Edition and so I believe the gifts will remain in that state as well.
Let's ✂ to the chase:
If I gift these, will they be able to be redeemed at all? Or will they be invalid?
Answer to my question: Ain't no devs gonna upgrade that s#!t. It gonna stay like that. And you can't do nothing about it. //Just paraphrasing here :P
