Good, however, linux is also hackable, but not targeted because of user base and technical know how.

So, in order to get hacked, you need to:

  1. Click on a suspicious link.
  2. Believe that your Flash player is outdated, which is especially funny if one is using Win10 that has a built-in Flash.
  3. Download a random EXE file and run it.
  4. Not have any kind of security software that would detect an incoming remote connection.

Honestly? If someone manages to fail a basic intelligence check four times in a row, I believe the hackers deserve to get that account. It may be in safer hands at them.

lol. However, there are alot of horny teenagers out there ready to click on anything to watch a video :-)

That is still okay. But the Flash player message should ring a bell. And browsers now usually like to tell where you are downloading a file from, not to mention that most basic security software should catch the thing when it is first loaded into memory.
I'm not saying even smart people cannot get scammed, but they are usually falling for the trick when they are directed to a web site that automatically runs a malicious code. That needs some good security to even hope to catch.
This one though, this feels like some newbie Chinese hacker group's feeble attempt. (Not even upcoming Russians would use these ancient methods.)

Nah, a peasant most likely would get confused at the download and run part. They would expect the system to automatically update "Flash" after clicking on the icon once and wait several hours for the background update to finish.

It's not even understandable that some would even think to start with point one let alone do all 4.

Or is it really not knowing that or curiosity?

Former. As I learnt, basic computer literacy is still not taught in many Western countries. I live practically in the Balkans (not geographically but politically and socially) and I learnt PC usage at 14. In the nineties. On 386s. Starting with MS-DOS, even though Win95 was already a widespread thing.
