Golden-crowned sifaka
The golden-crowned sifaka is a medium-sized lemur characterized by mostly white fur, prominent furry ears and a golden-orange crown. It is one of the smallest sifakas, weighing around 3.5 kg (7.7 lb) and measuring approximately 90 cm (35 in) from head to tail. Like all sifakas, it is a vertical clinger and leaper, and its diet includes mostly seeds and leaves. The golden-crowned sifaka lives in groups of around five to six individuals, with groups containing a balanced number of adult males and females. Its binomial name, Propithecus tattersalli, denotes its discoverer, Ian Tattersall, who first spotted it in 1974. Found in gallery, deciduous, and semi-evergreen forest, its restricted range includes forest fragments around the town of Daraina in northeast Madagascar. Its estimated population is between 6,000 and 10,000 individuals. Forest fragmentation, habitat destruction, poaching, slash-and-burn agriculture, and other human factors threaten its existence, and it is listed by the IUCN Red List as Endangered. Lawlessness resulting from the 2009 political coup in Madagascar led to increased poaching of this species, and many were sold to local restaurants as a delicacy.

they probably wont ever go down that route they even stopped the achievement events because of people cheating

Didn't they also say that the level and cards will always be only cosmetic? I checked the faq and couldn't find it, but I'm sure someone else has it.
Though this would be a pretty good substitute, since I can't really imagine a way of people cheating since you need to own the game and spend money to get badges...

They did say "getting cards out of beta is final step before steam sales" (ok, they said event everyone waits for, which could also mean another Team Fortress update...).
They could bring old summer sale event, where every badge means one ticket and you can exchange tickets for some DLCs or other rewards.

People weren't "cheating" it, they were blatantly abusing it. The problem with the Holiday Event was that many of the achievements didn't require any purchases or games and as such, people created multiple accounts to take advantage of this.
Care to explain how anything even close to that could happen with the trading cards?

To participate in coal event you needed atleast 1 game bought/activated (many people abused HiB). They were ready to spend money for more coal, so I guess they could do the same for more cards. Anyone that had many TF2 idling accounts can get many TF2 cards too. It is a bit more abuse proof, but I belive dovecoon is right - they said it would be only cosmetic (or atleast that's what I heard) - not sure about that.

Humble Bundle gave Steam keys for .01 purchases at the time which makes the game requirement irrelevant. If a game is able to be purchased for less than the value of the trading cards, then it will only remain that way for a couple hours.
The winter event required .01 per account for enough coal to craft at least once. The trading cards require at least two accounts to complete a set since you only get half the required and that's ignoring the chance of duplicates. Based on those requirements alone, you're spending a lot more .01 to receive one level.
With all that said, it'd obviously be tougher and most expensive to take advantage of them than the Winter Event. Unless giving out games along with the booster packs, I really don't see it ever being "abused".

They already said that the trading cards will be involved in the summer sale. That, and you cannot really "cheat" trading cards.

No, not really. They said that transitioning the card thing to open beta was a step towards an event that everyone would be excited about. Everything after that is just speculation, as usual.

I have $22 on my wallet, one week ago I had 0 and the only thing I had to do was getting the card drops I had and trade / sell them

Since I don't care about badge or wallpaper, it's giving me a little bit of extra cash in my wallet! Every card I upload gets sold in less than 5 min :)
