I have an important test in two weeks and while I did fine studying it in class and doing homework I can't get myself to review the material now. Any tips?

Any tips? Yes, don't create threads or talk too much about it.

You'll just spend time 'looking after' your threads, providing a 'justifiable' means to procrastinate work ("it's in the interest of solving my problem after all"). In the end, all you would have done is spend a lot of time talking about your problem. Sure, it'll make you feel good that you 'addressed' the problem, but of all that time spent talking about the problem, none is spent solving it.

Now shoo, and godspeed.

Because I don't know how to solve it. It isn't that it's too hot, cold,I'm hungry,I'm tired,or anything like that. I just can't get myself to open the book, and when I forced myself earlier to do it I managed to do 8 questions then I gave up(when I should have done about 25 in one session). I don't think I can force myself to do it again, thus the call for help.

Isn't that a bit too drastic? It isn't like I don't know anything at all. I finished all the material - just need to practice a bit every day.

Turn off your computer. Remove the power cord if necessary. Use it only on weekends or a couple hours at night (schedule those hours on your alarm clock).

Most studying these days requires a computer.

2 weeks till the test + you already did something? What are you talking about... I would procrastinate atleast 1,5weeks more before even worrying and starting.

I just got home from an exam ( finals started in my country ) and I think that I could share a piece of advice with you. You should always have a positive look towards examinations. Don't be scared of them or treat them with disregard. Look forward to going to that exam and passing it. Consider it a small obstacle that keeps you from doing something you really want, or becoming someone you would like to in the near or far future.

Also, always study after you've taken a nap and you are rested. If you are in highschool or university, a hot cup of coffee will always help to keep you focused and give you a small boost of energy. You are at your best in the first 2-3 hours after you have woken up, so take advantage of that time frame.

Last but not least, try to study with your computer/laptop/tablet closed. Try not to interfere with any distractions, if possible. You could also try studying with some background music ( instrumentals and movie scores work for me ), but choose wisely what genre you are playing, since most of them are a distraction.

I hope that you will find a solution and I wish you good luck on that test/exam.

Coffee is too bitter for me. I know the importance of this test yet I still procrastinate:|

Add some sugar or milk to sweeten it. If that doesn't work for you, just eat some chocolate. You do that anyway.

Simple. Gain an eidetic memory. Briefly look over everything you need to know. Refer back to said memories during the finals.

You need to set small goals instead of just saying "I need to study". All you really need to do is reserve 1 hour of study a day, but for each session you need to set a goal. Such as, "Today I am going to read pages 112 to 124" or "Today I am going to review my in-class notes".

Baby steps are important, otherwise you will overwhelm yourself, which in-turn demotivates your willingness to sit down and do work.

Here's what I do. Take 20-30 minutes of studying and then say play a game with quick rounds and play a round or something. Then go back and do another 20-30 minutes and play another quick round. This is an amazing way.

First of all, get away from the computer, here be monsters.

Try going to your local library, bring a couple of sandviches or fruits or whatever, sit down in a corner and take it slow and easy in the beginning. After you get over that "shit I'm not focusing at all/ I wanna go home"- bump, you'll be plowing though your material in no time. That pretty much always works for me.

After you've studied for a couple of hours, reward yourself with a feeling of acomplishment and hope. Then go play some games. Good luck!

Focus on the now, remember yourself and "nibble" your work if you must, i mean work just a little if you cant focus that long, and then try to focus (more) next day

Or Subdivide your work in little objective tasks and work them in between your procrastination

Split whatever you have to study in blocks and set aside some time for one of these block every day. By doing a little bit at a time, the whole task doesn't seem as demotivating.

Considering the fact I usually feel like this myself most of the time, I know the feeling very well.
