just a few things you can do offline to prevent withdrawal:

  • read a book

  • play (pyhsical) board games with friends

  • watch a movie

  • reproduce

For me, having constant access to the internet is most useful for satisfying my curiosity. There are lots of little questions I get, and I love being able to pull up the answer. Or I'll have questions related to cooking, since I do a lot of that while I'm murdering time at home.

When I first moved into my apartment 4 years ago, I didn't have internet for the first month and that was hard. I didn't really have things planned ahead of time, so I couldn't use Steam and my console game collection was pretty small, so I didn't do that well.

A couple of years ago, when money was getting really tight (paying off student loans, college debts, etc), I cancelled my internet for 6 months. This gave me just enough extra money a month to turn my financial situation around, and at the end of it, I qualified as a new user to Comcast, so I could get their promotional rates again!

When I went six months without internet, I had it planned out much better than before. I had a lot of Steam games downloaded and updated (although I was disappointed to learn that you can't earn Steam achievements in offline mode), I had a couple seasons of TV shows downloaded and ready on a HDD, my Kindle was loaded and ready to go, and I had a stack of console games. It wasn't always easy to get by without internet access, but if I really needed to get online to search for something, I ended up using the rudimentary browser on my stupid phone.

If I'm not on the net for a few days I get bundle withdrawal. I keep thinking what bundles I may be missing.
