When I saw the trailer about a year ago, I too thought of TF2 and disregarded the game until recently (when I coincidentally started playing TF2 again). However, I think it looks more like a first-person MOBA than a TF2 clone. Sure, it's class based like TF2 but then all MOBAs have classes too. Although it doesn't have the 3-lane arrangement of traditional MOBAs, the heros and there abilities are very reminiscent of League of Legends.

The first wave is only going to be streamers, youtube and maybe a tiny amount of other proven testers from previous blizzard betas. They made it pretty clear they wanted the early full-time testers to be the type of people who will give loads of feedback and bug reports. Youtube and Twitch serve two purposes -- hype train/free marketing and visual monitoring for bugs/exploits. I signed up on the first day it was announced at blizzcon and It will probably be a while before I get in. It's also random in later waves; hardware specs and age demographic matter more but it's pretty random.

First impressions show class-based shooter with wider variety of classes/characters, and typical Blizzard "silhouette design" to keep everything instantly recognisable. Skill pool per character seems limited, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing: it should keep the individual characters easy to learn, and finding the right team setups can still be part of higher-level play (especially if team sizes are smaller, so a team will always have some gap/weakness in terms of character skills available).

I agree 100%. Her fan art is amusing (and already tons of NSFW images...) but I like her best in the Blizzard videos.

Only a few hours until Blizzard maintenance is done and the beta starts rolling out for NA. EU will get it this evening.
If you signed up for the beta, may the odds be ever in your favor! It's unclear how many will get access but let us know if you got lucky.
