I think site really neccessary needs such function. When I am creating giveaway, I would like to know how much CV (EXACTLY) I will get! What will u say about this? If site cannot, maybe monkey-script can?

you have bundled CV left? - 120% of store value. You don't? 100% of store value. Bundled game and you're capped on free bundle CV (25$+20%bonus=30$)? 0.

Using calculator is hard, I know :>

Bundle game worth $20 gives $20 CV. But for that you need to give away non-bundle games worth $100.

you're totally wrong. If you're capped on free bundle CV and you give 20$ worth bundle you get 0$ CV not 4$ CV. On the other hand if you are not capped (for example gave away 100$ non-bundle CV and not a single bundle game) it will give you 20$ CV.

Too bad, my unbundled value is all gone now because the game I gave away unbundled just got bundled even though it wasn't actually bundled nor price glitched. Just it's normal steam price happened to be off slightly more than 95% in one currency, while the actual drop in that currency still only was 90%.

well, how can we know you bought it in your currency and not from russian trader for example? :>

well...I know that's not a solution that could be automated anyway.

Maybe it would be reasonable to look at how many copies someone gifted away over steamgifts? 3? Seems like a regular 4-pack. 30? Probably not. I could see it working like this:
When regional price discount go over 95%, these games will count unbundled for as often as you can buy it one go from the steamstore. If a 4 pack is offered, 3 gifts are count fully. If that game doesn't offer a 2/3/4-pack then only 1 copy of that game gives full cv. Additional copies only give bundled-cv.
These regional price "abused" games could be marked with a double asterisk (**) to be able to see the difference quickly.

This way only people who really abuse it will be punished. Yes maybe some will buy their one copy from a russian trader and give it away for full cv, but they only save the difference between 96% and 90% for a single copy. But I doubt more than 5% of the people buy games from russian traders. And with this new system these 5% can't bring hundreds of copies any longer to SG for full CV. Only 1 copy. AND THE HUGE ADVANTAGE of this system 95% of the normal non abusing users do not get punished for having not done anything wrong - which currently is the case.

sorry, but it's also a terrible idea. Few examples: quite a few people I know have their "signature Giveaways" - these are GAs for games that are rarely given away on SG and they give them in various closed events. Some of them even buy them for full price just to give it away oin new event. And your system will punish them as well. Next thing - someone really loves Skyrim (which is a great game, so no wonder ;p) but he gave it away 3 times already in a past. Now you want to give him 0$Cv because of that? Another example - Featured GAs - and I mean user made, not the developer stuff. I made a Featured GA for 52 copies I bought just to celebrate my birthday. Does it mean I must get 0$Cv because of it? Because in your system it means I must have abused it!

And about your percentages - care to share where you get them from? From your head? How do you know that only 5% contributors buy their games from traders? Actually from what I've seen at least 50% of my friends from various groups buy from traders from time to time and even a bigger part at least one time used trader to purchase a cheaper copy of the game.

No. What I suggested is not meant for every game (you missed that part). Only for those that are discounted over 95% (and therefore bundled) in a specific region that is not US. These now would not be bundled normally (one asterisk), but with the this new idea I posted above (double asterisk - one copy counts with full cv).

ok, still terrible idea. Neverwinter price bug was 200$ CV for less than 1$ :> so due to your solution it's ok for me to farm 600$ CV on just 3 copies, when I paid less than 3$? :> And then do so with SS3 complete, SS3 gold and every other game? :> This way anyone would be able to get 1000-1500$ CV while spending like what - 10$? 15$? :>

What you talk about was a pricing error. What I'm talking about are regional price "abuses" (sg already lists and distinguishes these occurrences with these terms) where the discount in one country is only slightly higher than in another country (and only when the local price is converted and compared to the US price - yeah, Payday wasn't -96% for russians. It also was -90% for them just like for the rest of the world The difference only comes from the exchange rate rather than the actual discount given).

how is it any different one from another? bottom line remains that in both regional pricing difference and regional pricing errors in the end you're capable of buying a game for more than 95% off. Or ask a trader to do it for you. So you have ways to obtain every such a title for less than 5% of it's value and then abuse it. Your system only make the abuse lesser - you can abuse up to 3 copies only (which still gives you a shitload of abused CV, as I pointed).

No. Because a pricing error would not get a double asterisk. It gets the regular asterisk.

It doesn't matter. It's about making people happy by giving away stuff. If you're doing it for the CV, then you're doing it wrong.

if all you care about is CV then buy a new game the chances of it going on a 95%sale or being in a bundle are much less for a while
but as Zomby2D said if you are doing it for the CV then you are doing it wrong

I think, that function, which will remove games you are not interested from the GA list will be more useful... it will safe time by searching right game among hundreds of GA... Well, this site needs some more customizable filters, not only games you 've already had...

High Cv is practically useless thing. Most of valuable giveaways are privat or only for group members, where if you win something - you had to create a same value giveaway (imho it's nonsense because in this way you can buy the wanted game by yourself.

Install SteamGifts Plus

I like better idea with hide games that you already won, so people who win game and have not activate it can't win it again

Games you already won should be automatically added to the list of games you have, whether you have it on your profile or not.

I'd still like for the filtering to be done on the server side though. Faster loading time, less stress on the server's bandwidth, and no unwanted giveaway when I'm not at home/work and I don't have SG+ installed.

Thank you for submitting your idea to improve the CV system. We appreciate your enthusiasm in helping to make this a better website. After consideration, however, we must admit that your suggestion, while interesting, is redundant and superfluous within the current operation parameters of SteamGifts. In other words, "SteamGifts already does that."

Should you have any other suggestions in the future to improve this site, please do not hesitate to submit them. It is caring users such as yourself that make our community great. Thank you for your cooperation, and please continue to enjoy SteamGifts.
