Looking for some really great games that I might have missed going throught all the games in sale.

So far, I have found:

What are yours so far? Looking for other games to buy not on my wishlist :)

It has a really fantastic storyline with a narrator who perfectly matches what is needed. The gameplay is well rounded and thought out and it all fits together smoothly. The minigames are also lots of fun and you will get several hours of playtime out of those! However there are not always people online to play with, which is a shame...

better find yourself a friend nearby to play coop if you haven't already. it's boring to play singleplayer, and lag takes fun and turns it into frustration.

single player's okay, actually :) as it is, it's quite challenging in the later stages!

I actually bought this during the previous sale but until now, I couldn't get it to work on my Win 7 PC. I've tried everything from what a basic google search can tell. I can start up the game but somehow it doesn't detect my mouse or controller.

It is a roguelike. Most roguelikes are RPGs.

I have the game and it's a roguelike. Each time you start the zone is randomly generated, it's turn based and once you die you're dead. It's not a classic roguelike, but roguelike nonetheless.

In case anyone who already has some BIT.TRIP games is hesitating to buy it: this pack will give you extra copies (with the exception of FLUX + some soundtracks), even though the store page says otherwise. Proof

Bought it yesterday, can confirm it.

Manhunt played for me on Windows 7, it just needed a couple tweaks. The biggest issue I had was that it doesn't lock the cursor to the screen so on dual monitors the game would lose focus all the time. In the end I had to disable the second monitor when I was playing.

Here are some good games, not necessarily as cheap as they will go, but they look very interesting, and I believe them to be rather unknown.

Of Guards and Thieves

Xenonauts

TinyKeep

Clandestine

Frozen State

+1. This game is great, although the survival elements feel more like a gimmick than an actual necessity.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The local co-op plus the deep RPG elements attracted me to this game.
A few issues stated in reviews seems to be "bad camera, tedious quests" and as you stated gimmicky survival elements.
Doesn't seem to be an issue as the game seems to be fun offline or online.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't see any real issue with the camera, except in coop where both players have to stay on the same screen, even online. Bummer but once you're used to it it's fine.

Tedious quests? Well it's an hack'n'slash, don't expect great quests :P

Are the Dlcs necessary or it doesn't add a lot to the game? Have a copy of the base game in my inventory ^^

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haven't installed it yet so I can't say for sure. But they seem necessary for completion.
There are achievements saying DLC names like complete it in "Kovac's Way ", "Barricade". SteamDB lists a DLC as 700mb so it must be somewhat big.
Seems like the Storm Warning Edition is the cheapest because the individual DLCs are expensive. :(

One quick question, this sale til dec 2, is it different from the winter sale? (newbie in terms of steam sales)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeap. this is autumn/thanksgiving/exploration(?) sale. not winter sale.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just a little. Winter will be mostly the same games/discounts.

It's like winter pre-sale. Winter sale is longer, has more and better discounts plus it has badges and such.

Aww. Now I have to decide whether to get Tri Of Friendship and Madness or How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition.
Both games are slightly similar in price but both very different games.
Input from someone who owns one or both of these games are appreciated.

I got it as a gift and I enjoyed it quite a lot. The puzzles reminded me of braid and the game had a lot of character to it. It was a tiny bit short and my pc lagged a bit while running it but other than that...

Nothing is wowing me right now, tbh. I've seen the same games have better deals on regular weekly or daily sales.

Normal, some games/franchise will be daily deals. It's why the price is not as good as normally. The daily dead has to be the cheapest price during the sale :)

Explodemon looks decent enough for $1.34
Hero siege looks fun for $1.50

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Explodemon's gameplay is terrible. It's like a floatier Ms. Splosion Man with awkward hitboxes, bad hit detection, and a bunch of misleading Steam reviews that want to compare it to a classic series that's famous for its tight controls. And then they go on to complain about the controls.

I have never played a Mega Man game that felt anything like this game. The level design and general style is more reminiscent of Sonic, with plenty of switches two feet away from the doors that they open just so you have to slow down for a minute. But that's only if you really want to force a comparison to a much better franchise. Don't do that, because then you might accidentally talk someone into playing it.

OH WELL

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, got that in a HiB some time ago (don't remember which one). Only problem I have with it is the insane difficulty curve.
Starts easy, then 2 levels later, BAM! balls hard with no inbetween. Then you get used to it, solve things, and the game switches puzzle concepts. Starts of easy again, and again 2 levels later, BAM! balls hard.
Still hard not to like the game, as it's somehow quite mesmerizing and relaxing to play.
