Just because a famous Youtuber doesn't like something, it doesn't mean you won't like it.
If it would be so, then explain the Steam reviews (Positive: 1,494 vs Negative: 364).

To be fair, Steam reviews are a terrible indicator of quality. Too many times I've seen flawed and even unfinished games (not in Early Access) with stellar reviews on Steam.

Not that I follow the Youtube scene much, but I thought the unlucky fella had retired.

I watched parts of the review but the game still appeals to me pretty highly. It looks like a neat, chill, relaxing life sim/time management game on subject matter that I enjoy and have interest in. The flaws in gameplay do temper my expectations a bit, which is probably a good thing going in so I don't think it's going to be some sort of GOTY candidate for me and end up massively dissappointed. I didn't realize there was an Android version for 50% less than the PC version, I might just buy it to give it a play tonight.
I think a major reason why the reviewer disliked the game so much is that he seems to not at all be interested in or have any experience with physical/fight training in real life. The game itself does seem to be designed to be very grindy/time managementy and pretty slow-paced, which also may not be the reviewer's favorite genre, but the charm of it in my opinion is in its presentation and role-play aspects in which the player is able to really visualize and get into character due to the wonderful atmosphere created by the copious details in the environment.
He does highlight some issues with the gameplay that would be wonderful if the devs took to heart and rebalanced, but I also think there may be more depth to the game than a single playthrough could reveal.

Yeah those stat bubbles flying up from the training seemed to be a borrowed artistic choice from Game Dev Tycoon (which itself borrowed very heavily from KairoSoft's Game Dev Story), and it likely wasn't the only influencing factor in the design of the game since it seems Punch Club likely suffers some of the same pitfalls in gameplay design. That said, I still enjoyed Game Dev Tycoon for its subject matter and presentation and so I think I'll probably have fun with Punch Club too. :)

After seeing the trailer for punch club (http://store.steampowered.com/app/394310/) it looked like a really good game, good pixel graphics, looked like it had a nice fighting system going on. I haven't bought this game yet. I saw TBs review it. on Youtube, and to be honest it looked really good from the trailer, but the game itself doesn't look all that intresting. Take a look at it and tell me what you think: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy1Ms_5qBTawC-k7PVjHXKQ
