What is the point in trying to continue this shit show that is my life. I'm closing in on 30 with nothing to show, zero prospects and an unfiltered view of this world in all of it glorious. The only reason I still try to exist is because others will it. Why is it wrong to choose my time of demise if death is the inevitable conclusion to my pitiful existence.

I'll probably get some blacklists for what ever reason individuals can think of. Seems to be the running joke on SG.

Obligatory giveaways

This is just a low point in your life. Sometimes you just need to create some happiness in your life. Join some classes, go save money and travel to meet some interesting people etc. Take your mind off of problems. Tackle the bad things one step at a time.

The one thing I can say is reach out to people first, don't push them away :)

You are 100% right! whitelisted, not that it really matters. Just so I know that you are one of the good people.

Actually my whole life has mostly been a low point. Why conception was a massive accident. Only good thing that came from it is the fact that it caused my parents to split, directly reading to the being of 4 half siblings.

If two people truly love each other there's nothing that can make them split apart. Conception can't be an accident. It can be a mistake caused by irresponsibility though. If you were a mistake you can't blame yourself, the only ones to blame are the ones who made the mistake. How they chose to deal with that mistake is also on them, not on you.

Yeah well some people that do those things are just pathetic. They think they are better then others if they are given the option to do such things. Well those people don't even deserve our attention.

People that blacklist for those kind of stupid reasons are not worth it to worry about. Instead focus on the good stuff and check how many whitelists you got instead (you got one from me at least).

Not everyone has to make impressive achievements in life. There are so many things in this world worth living for. Find things you love in life and enjoy them.

The funny thing is I actually have the capability to make a massive impact, but my fears has kept me from doing anything worthwhile.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well then there are two things you can do. Either work on overcoming your fears and do something, or simply live to enjoy fun things life has to offer. There's no wrong choice between those two.

I don't know you so I don't know could you make a massive impact, but even if you could that doesn't means you have to and you shouldn't feel bad for not doing it and for living a simple life instead.

I'd say that so long as one doesn't cause any harm to others, he is living the right way.

Such a good comment. I think most people's problem is this. They always think they should do something important and that makes them unhappy and unsatisfied with their lifes. People should accept that they can live without being important anyone besides themselves. Just live your life with the things you can find that makes you happy or at least try to do it with your time left.

Sometimes the biggest impact you can have may come from somewhere you haven't even realized. For example, starting this thread -- perhaps another person at a low point in their life comes in and reads a comment that resonates with them and helps them towards formulating a new perspective.

A lot of life can be found in the little things. It is often the sum of these little things that add up to something magnificent.

this may not be a popular opinion, but i think it's perfectly fine to choose the time of my death myself, if i don't enjoy life. but honestly, i don't think death is the most reasonable way in most cases. think about it. if you have nothing, then you have nothing to lose. so you can do anything. i think it can be quite liberating to accept that you don't have to follow anything other people say. if you think your life is worse than other's, because they tell you you need this and that for a good life - well, just forget it and do what you want. if you're already thinking about death, nothing has real consequences anyway. go out and have fun. drink as much as you never did before, take drugs, ask a woman out, even if you were always too shy to do it - no real consequences, so go for it. do what you want.

I think this is similar to what I was reading about life insurance policies when it comes to suicide. Usually a clause that it won'y pay out till 12+ months (policies vary of course) If there is no terminal illness, I think a person should wait a "long" period of time before acting. In one case, a man had bought the insurance and did wait 12 months before doing so. It was supposed to be 13, but the individual responsible for his policy allowed it. This is coming from someone who has severe depression, has a long family history of it, and a family history of suicides. I can be suicidal for months, life can seem completely hopeless. But I wake up one day, and life is alright. Not spectacular, but livable and workable.

A relationship like :

BF, GF
or
Marriage

Uhm no, imho... life has a reason 'cause...chocolate. :P (my colleague prefers beer... but he is a lost cause). ^.^
Jokes aside...

Marriage is not an answer just a social imposition.... we lived more than a thousand of years without it, we can try again... :P

I can suggest friendship if he/she really need interaction...but we, as human, can self-improve with knowledge and try to appreciate what we already have opposed to the "consumistic" way of thinking of what we need. :P

Trying to find an answer for a personal problem in another individual is wrong (or just move the burden on other people, if you prefer)... i think we need to appreciate ourself - find an answer FIRST...then we can do the same with others.

Just my opinion though... ;)

In which part of human life history, we could live in a society without the marriage ?

I asked it because i didn't find about it by googling it.:P

The way I see it, there's nothing wrong with choosing to end your life on your own terms.
That being said, there's usually a good reason to go on, such as not wanting to cause your parents pain, to spend more time with friends, or just to get that 100% achievement in Half-Life 2.

Here's a list of people who managed to achieve absolutely nothing by age 30:
Alan Rickman (actor)
Sylvester Stallone (actor)
Vincent Van Gogh (painter)
JK Rowling (writer)
Raymond Chandler (writer)
Leonard Cohen (musician)
Wendy Davis (politician)
Reid Hoffman (billionaire)
Mark Cuban (billionaire)
Soichiro Honda (yes, that Honda)

And by age 40:
Samuel L Jackson (actor)
Rodney Dangerfield (comedian)
Vera Wang (designer)
Henry Ford (yes, that Ford)
Momofuku Ando (food - created Ramen Noodle)

By age 50:
Julia Childs (cook)
Ray Kroc (McDonalds)
Taikichiro Mori (billionaire)

Age 60
Harlan Sanders (founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken)

and if that doesn't cheer you up, try some puppies:

Use your suffering to power an artistic attempt. Make a book. Or a game. Or comic. Or video log on YouTube if you must. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

Also, who's gonna play those 1600 games in your backlog if you're gone?

Life is cruel, death might be even crueler. I tried to kill myself when someone important to me passed away.
But what if we don't get to see the people we love anymore, even the ones that passed on?
What if death means that everyone will end up in the infinite darkness with nowhere to go, no souls to meet?
I'm terrified of a lot of things, death also happens to scares me. So I decided to let nature does its course and not interfere it.

When I was younger I wanted to end myself hundred of times. But sometime along the line, I found my passion, video games, I guess I love them more than my life now, because I'll definitely keep living just to play more. So maybe find something that would make it worth suffering through life?

Damn this thread is depressing.

10 years ago (almost 11 now, damn I'm getting old), I sat in an empty room with the barrel of a pistol in my mouth, ready to paint the walls with brain matter.

Today I'm (relatively) content with life, happy to be alive, and tend not to look too far forward ahead and instead concentrate on right now and what I can do to better myself and the lives of those I cherish. Just because you hit a bad spot in life doesn't mean it's over, that it can't be righted, and that you have nothing to look forward to. Life changes like the weather, sometimes up, sometimes down, but we need those bad periods to really appreciate the good ones. Keep your chin up and keep moving. :)

While I agree that it should be your choice (as long as you don't do anything, like jumping in front of a train, which ruins the live of others), you should at least consider getting help and talking to a professional. It might change your perspective... or not, but what do you have to lose?
I was in a pretty dark place some time ago, but after talking to someone, I actually managed to turn it around and improve a lot of the aspects that bothered me before and made me believe everything was meaningless.

I wish you the best and hope you manage to get out of this dark hole you're in right now.
