So, just got a foil from GSB, and I put it on the market. The next second, the other foil owner drops his price fifty cents below mine. Should I have some fun with him and drop mine 1 cent below his and see how far this will go? Or do I just let it be and wait it out?

I think it's a waste of time but if you find that funny...

Far from an expert on this, but for mine I let someone else have the lowest price, and went to sleep. When I woke up, they were both sold. Yay. :)

It's not about the profit, it's about sending a message.

Not really, I was just wondering if anyone thought it would be fun, and we could all bond as a forum by annoying this poor, innocent man.

Well it's your money, have fun the way you think is best... :)

But if you set the price "too low" someone (maybe this person himself) will buy it and immediately relist it at a higher price. If you don't care how much money you get from the card, both of you will probably be happy with this result. :)

edit: Hmm, now I remember why this seems familiar, used to do this on various MMOs, after the game got boring. Play around on the auction-house thing instead of playing the actual game. Was a good indication that it's time to quit. :)

Honestly, I have enough money in my steam wallet right now that I'm tempted to just buy his. It's the only other foil of that card, so I could have a monopoly on it :P

Well, you can easily get burned trying to corner the market this way. You never know what's sitting in someone's inventory unlisted...

Suppose you buy up all the whatsits, and suddenly someone else puts theirs up for a lower price. Do you buy those also? Try to cut your losses and sell yours at the lower price? Maybe put your stuff up for a higher price, and hope someone buys all of theirs, and yours too? Or maybe just give up, and play some games? :)

Good luck!

If you don't need the money right now, don't put it on for the cheapest price.

I was just talking about the same issue of people undercutting repeatedly. The way I see it, selling the cards is a nice little cash bonus so even if I get 5p for a card I do not care, it is free money :) I have made around £20 selling the cards so that will be a few games on the Summer Sale.

If you don't mind sticking it out then put your card on sale just above the lowest price and if it doesn't sell within say a hour then revise the price. You will get a flood of cards for new games so the price will vary a lot in the first few hours. The majority of the time my cards sell within 30 minutes (usually 10 mins) so for a fairly quick sale at a reasonable price it seems to work for me.

50 cents below your price isn't that bad. Some people undercut by several euros/dollars right away.
