I am wondering if valve has a rule about this. I saw that you can stream games over the internet using Hamachi and i was wondering if you can get banned for this in any way on steam.

There's no evidence for people getting banned for activating games through VPN. Using it to buy stuff on the store itself sure is ban, I'll give you that.

Well, that's not what i am gonna use it for,but i saw that it's possible with Hamachi to stream games at great distance for friends

i activated some games in february using vpn. steam just sent me a mail with the usual 5 digit code and asks me to confirm myself when i access from a new location or i use private tab in my browser.

It's safe. You get only bannedy for using VPN to buy games on cheaper regions.

Using VPN to connect to your own computer is entirely different thing and steam still sees you connecing from actual location.

So basically ,if a friends use it to connect to my account it's still illegal?

You're not supposed to share your Steam account. It's not illegal, but not allowed.

What about this?

"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, we may terminate your access to your Account."

I don't think it is forbidden use VPN fon In-Home streaming, but:

  • you need A LOT of upstream bandwith at home (to send the video stream)
  • you'll have a lag doubled: video stream from remote to local + sending commands/actions to remote (~ ping doubled)

I have 8Mbit ADSL (~50Kbyte upload bandwith) and this is definitely not possible :|

One of my friends tried it and i saw that it worked really well. That's why i even asked this question. It depends i think on the internet speed and the host computer. My upload speed is 25 mbp/s

I call bullshit on this shit. f6 advanced stats screenshot on client or gtfo. I saw your retarded deleted post saying you managed to do this with tomb raider without going down to 50fps with minimal lag on your vpn.

25mb/s on upload speed? bullshit
you need at least stable 70mbps for tomb raider to do 60fps

he's still actually arguing that his 25mbps upload speed works well with steam streaming. look at post his post 1 person before me

25 mbp/s as my internet speed, not upload during the gameplay, and i said UP to 60 fps. I didn't get the chance to try it properly or to get any video/photo to show you because i stopped figuring i could get banned. There's no need to insinuate i'm a retard for a post.
Most of the time i got 35-40 and again,i said UP to 60,and that's why i deleted the post.
Internet speed and what i meant by 25 mbp/s upload : http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3516714568

My upload speed is 25 mbp/s
I did not say 25mbps is your internet speed.

Also you did said your fps didn't drop 50fps.

I didn't say you are a retard, but your post was retarded. Stop bending my words. Lastly, stop distributing incorrect facts about in-home streaming.

Ok,sorry,i didn't mean to bend your words or to argue, but i didn't say i didn't drop 50 fps,i wrote 30.Maybe by mistake i wrote 50 and i meant to say 30,anyway,the point was and is that it's possible and i was just asking if it's legal and if i could get banned.Sorry again

Adaptive bitrate. Just lower quality when less upload are available.

Also framerate doesn't affect needed bitrate very much, because codecs work by storing differences.
(assuming time between keyframes stays same, if it's constant frame number, needed bitrate will increase (or lower quality with static bitrate).
