If you like the series, and similar games like Prince of Persia, try Underworld. If you like something different, go with the Guardian of Light. I don't know, never been interested in TR series (except Guardian of light, which had really nice camera angle).

i'd say legend. aniversary is just a remake of the first game (not saying its bad, just saying you might already have played it... sorta)

Personally, it has to be Anniversary for me. I played the shit out of the original for PSx and seeing it revamped like that was amazing. :)

Anniversary or Legend. Anniversary is the HD remake of the TR1. Legend is a great start to a new storyline. Underworld is just the end. (:

As a fan of TR franchise, I couldn't finish Underworld, it's so boring.. :(

Anniversary IMO. Nice remake, but still feels fresh. Legend's okay, but feels too... action-y rather than exploration-based. Plus Lara has annoying people yapping at her all the time. Underworld is decent, but they cut boss battles and added health regen, making it feel too easy. Haven't played Guardian of Light yet, but it's absolutely nothing like a regular Tomb Raider game from what I've seen.

you are not making it easier by recommending me differents games all of you :P I think I'll go for Anniversary and Legend. Don't want the Guardian of the light because of goddamn DLCs which will cost me another Β£2. And water levels in Underworld... not for me.

You can power through the water level in about 15 minutes (less probably, I'm slow at games anyway)...I haven't had the time to properly play to give an opinion on it.

Don't buy Guardian of light if you want a Tomb Raider game, that's not what I call Tomb Raider...

I recommend Anniversary, if you're just picking one. I was only saying why the others aren't a top choice for me. lol

But if you are picking up a second, go with Legend. No boss battles, health regen, and just generally being too easy severely ruined my opinion of Underworld, although exploration was at least pretty nice.

And definitely don't pick up GoL if you're looking for a regular Tomb Raider.

I have to say Tomb Raider: Anniversary, as it is pretty much a remake of the first game, and I'm a fan of the older games in the franchise.

well, I was going to make a new thread but unlike many before me, I am aware of the search function on steamgifts.

Since the Tomb Raider games are on sale, I figure I'll pick one up. Which one should I get?

most responses below recommend Anniversary or Legend, but it's been 5 months and that's plenty of time for others
to have picked up and played the game to give their opinion.

I wouldn't buy them from Steam unless you absolutely want them on Steam just to have in your library. If you can find the gold copies I would say go for those because they have bonus levels that are not in the games that are on Steam. The "gold" versions are just for the older games though, Tomb Raider 4 on up didn't have gold versions.

Tomb Raider 1 included - Unfinished Business

Tomb Raider 2 included - The Golden Mask

Tomb Raider 3 included - The Lost Artifact

These are only in the gold versions and not the Steam versions

Tomb Raider 4 also had a gold version (called Synopsis) but it was never released because the team responsible for making them got fired and the studio was closed, but there was a fan-made version of those levels (called Fading Light) which you can download.

Legend!! Underworld just bored as hell. The number of enemy is too small, which is suck.
