Kinda curious about this - I've purchased a few games (download) from Amazon and have some keys for some others that I haven't downloaded yet.
I don't see any mention of anything on Amazon being activatable (yes, it's a word in my world) on Steam and just to see, I entered a key for Tomb Raider Underworld and it of course did not work.

So I'm wondering if any Amazon keys work on Steam and if I just have a key (like if I give someone a key I don't need) what am I supposed to do with it? The GFWL marketplace thing doesn't offer anywhere to enter a key and apparently only works for direct purchases, although MS Flight, which I installed from Steam, shows up in it, but none of the other GFWL games I have installed.

~I remember when you bought a game, put a disc in your computer, and then actually played the game you bought...

Games bought from Amazon are only able to be activated on Steam if they use Steamworks as DRM, as far as I know. There are some exceptions though.

Amazon has been getting way better about putting whether a game activates on Steam.
If you bought the Square-Enix pack this week, Underworld is the one game that does not activate on Steam.
Almost all of them will say if they require Steam way down at the bottom of the whole description.

cool - thank you, that's what I was wondering (yes, it's the Square Enix - helluva deal - my dumb luck to grab the one that's not Steam to test)

guess I need to read the descriptions more closely - just didn't see any mention of Steam, but wasn't really looking for it either so...

You have to read carefully. For some games they even have both a Steam and non-Steam version like Bioshock.

Some game downloads that you buy from Amazon aren't Steam keys, but are product codes used to activate the game when you first start it up, which are usually SecuROM codes. Some, but rarely, are Origin keys. You'll only get Steam keys for games that say it uses Steamworks on the game's info page. I've bought a lot of game downloads from Amazon.

"activatable" is a perfectly cromulent word. Learn them to embiggen your vocabulary.

I remember when I had to swap a dozen 5&1/4 inch diskettes between one or two floppy drives to play a game I bought.
Will accept taking the time to figure out where I download my game from any day of the week.

IRQ settings... ugh... :( and wtf is an AGP slot?!

(also, for the OP, including the posts others made, sometimes checking for "steam" within the reviews on Amazon helps)
