I think that is only if you Don´t know how to trade (not offense :P)
but maybe depends if you are playing the game and one guy offers you for one thing that you not want to trade

I trade heavily and still agree TF2 traders are super annoying. It would be like if I went to the corner store and asked "Do you have any chips?". "We have a lot." "How much?" "How much will you pay?" "What are they worth?" "Give me a price and we will see." "Umm a dollar?" "Hahahahahaha are you joking idiot, they cost $1.10 at least, get out of my store right now. I refuse to speak with you further."

And why exactly are TF2 traders annoying? I've been out of the mix for quite some time now, but I've never seen a trader bothering anyone in an official/non trading server; in fact when I was trading I'd just go to TF2Outpost, and never even join a game.

Specifically coupon traders who think that the free coupons that get dropped in their inventory have cash value, and the profiteers who buy something on sale and try to get double the sale price back while the game is still on sale

Mmm, as far as just annoying goes, it's annoying how tedious it is to sort your library.

If only we could select multiple games at once so we could move them all to a certain group. That would make things a lot easier.

THIS OMG. I can't believe it has to be that difficult, all that stupid improvements on profiles, and they dont fix the important things.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

To fix something it has to be broken. Not having a feature doesn't constitute a broken feature. Besides, I personally don't see a point in rearranging game library, alphabetical order of all available games works just fine.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Works fine if you got an small amount of games, or if you know exacly what you got, or if you know exacly whats every game about.

That being said, the point is that they actually offer the chance to sort your library, but just in a really annoying and unefficiently way.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have only three hundred seventy nine games, so that could be the reason why I don't sort my library.
Anyway, I'm not against the ability to arrange one's library in some sophisticated manner. The point was that it wouldn't be "fixing the important things".

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well i might have overacted about that ofc, but im just sick to see stupid changes or "improvements" on steam, while useful things like a great way to sort your library or disable group notifications are not being implemented, even when its so obvious that it needs to be done, much easier to do than what they do actually implement, and there is requests from users about it since 5 years ago with no answer at all:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=760223&page=31

They do have a broken aspect of the feature in that you cannot remove a category once you've created it. Due to a "cloud" reset I lost my categories, so I created new ones, the cloud kicked back in and now I have duplicates of my categories which is incredibly annoying. If I put a finished game away in my "Beat" category I have to be very careful as to which one.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That they do. Cloud should have more management options or rather at all.

1 decade ago
Permalink

you can save this file Steam/userdata/"your account number"/config/shortcuts.vdf and if your game library "resets" you can return it to the point when you got the file backed-up.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just re-installing Windows won't wipe out your saves. If you formatted your drive during the install it will, but that's your fault. Games put save files either in your "My Documents," the game directory itself or somewhere in your AppData directory. With Steam cloud enabled games, the save files will be in Steam\Userdata directory.

You can re-install Windows without wiping the drive and it will leave your existing files in place. Steam is easy to get back up after a re-install, just browse to the Steam directory and run steam.exe and it takes care of everything. That's the same method you use if your moving the Steam directory to another drive/partition or a new system. I've been using Steam since HL2 came out and moved to three new systems just by coping the Steam directory to the new system and running steam.exe.

If you consider game saves important, you should be backing them up with the rest of your important data so you won't lose them if your drive itself fails.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I would save all the data if I could. It happened that my Windows got infected and everytime I try to turn it on, it just says Loading Windows and then Black Screen... And I wait 1+ hours and it don't dissapear and I can't do anything, in safe mode its the same thing. I had to deleted everything to remove the infection.

1 decade ago

Valve isn't an European company.

1 decade ago

That doesn't matter as long as they are selling to EU countries. However, what they are doing is not against EU laws. It's true that they are not allowed to forbid reselling licenses but that doesn't mean they must make it technically possible

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

As said 0x442E472E.
Thats why there are some speculations about possible way to loan a games.
It is same as with regional censored versions of games, they must do it because of laws.

Yeah, but even if something happens to those games, most of them were bought heavily discounted, so that Deus Ex - Human Revolution at $5 really gave me value.

1 decade ago
Permalink

this mean that the software{steam} you use you cannot own it

1 decade ago

if I dont own them are rented or what? If they are not mine it means some guy can come everyday and say..:Hey,those games are mine and I take them,..lol

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I am pretty sure that the Terms of Service for ANY PC game say that you do not have the capacity to re-sell the game, legally. The reason for this is that it would be easy to sell the disc, but still be playing the game. Which is why you generally do not see any real "used" PC games in game stores.

I know most of the times its up to publishers and its not even client side but my No.1 is region restriction/region pricing.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think it may also deal with legal/taxation stuff. Certain things would be easier to license in certain areas, reducing the price, or harder and increasing. Then there is the problems with religion and stuff that offends certain groups of an area enough. I imagine there is stuff outside of this that is in the realm of stupidity though.

It shows people how much you've played if you're active on this site. Can't be bothered to switch between public and private all the time.

Bit awkward when your friend is calling you to play games and you're all like "nah, I'm playing M&B so I'm not picking up" and then it tells him that even though you're not online, you suddenly have gametime on a date where you weren't online.
