Booster packs: Booster packs are additional cards for games that will drop periodically. Anyone who has collected all the trading card drops they can for a game and have used Steam in the last week may receive one of these booster packs. These packs contain three additional cards for the game, and may contain foils. If you receive a booster, you will get a "1 new item in your inventory" alert.

Game Collector Badge: There's a new badge which will grant you XP based on how many games you have in your Steam library. This badge replaces the "100 XP for having at least one product registered" message at the bottom of the badges page.

Profile Game Count: The number shown next to the "Games" link on the new profile should now more closely match the number of games shown in the Steam library.

(Possibly) upcoming trading card games

A little Steam trading cards FAQ:

Note: Most questions are already answered in the official FAQ

Q: How many / Which Steam games drop cards?
A: See official FAQ, though this thread seems a bit more complete ;)
You can also use the advanced options in the Steam store search

Q: How many cards does game X drop?
A: Each game drops 50% (rounded up for odd numbers) of the total card number, it's also part of the official FAQ.

Q: What cards / emotes / backgrounds / arts are available for game X?
A: See either steamcardexchange.net, Steam Trading Cards Wiki or SG TC Art Collection (discontinued)

Q: What are Mystery Cards and how do I get them?
A: It's not sure what they do, but you can get them from crafting badges since the latest updated (July 3rd) more info
Edit: Mystery cards turned into Steam Summer Getaway Trading Cards on July 11th.

Q: What are Steam Summer Getaway Trading Cards?
A: Summer cards FAQ

Q: So now I know how to get cards, but how do I get backgrounds / emotes / XP to level up my Steam account?
A: By crating a badge (a full set of cards, see official FAQ)

Q: I've hit my card drop limit, how do I get more cards?
A: You don't. The only way to get more cards is by trading or buying them on the market. Exception: TF2 and Dota2 - you will get one more card drop for every $9 spent on the ingame store. However there are plans to improve this (see next Q/A entry).
EDIT: The recent update (June 18th) introduced Booster Packs

Q: Where are my TF2/Dota2/Warframe/other F2P trading card game cards?
A: You only get the cards for those 2 F2P games, if you either were TF2 premium or bought something from the Dota2 store before the beta started. Now you have to spend money in the ingame store to get card drops. For a more detailled information you should check out the games "How do I earn card drops?" link on your badges page or visit the game forum.

Q: Will I get card drops of game X, that's supposed to drop cards, if I don't own the game but play it during a free weekened?
A: Nope, Valve is not stupid, no freebies for you.

Q: How much is my card worth?
A: Check the market, the prices are changing all the time, depending on supply and demand - simple economics.

Q: I have a question that's not answered in this FAQ.
A: Well, that's not a question per se, but chances are your question is already covered in the official FAQ.

This is retarded , i don't want to be held back from playing a game now because it might drop cards in the future .

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You should be able to get all the cards within 2-3 hours of idling.

You should enjoy the game instead of thinking about the optional cards ;)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The "problem" you proposed is what is retarded. There is nothing holding you back from playing the games now and either playing them some more later or just idling on the game start screen for a couple hours to get drops later.

Do you mean you own the game, but your badges page says there are no card drops remaining?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, it says :

Card drops earned: 4 Drops earned by purchasing the game: 4 Card drops received: 0 of 4 earned You can get 4 more trading cards by playing Left 4 Dead 2.

So it means I can drop all the 8 cards by playing the game ? It's not clear.. Because atm I don't have any of them.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Card drops earned: 4 - Meaning you have a total of 4 drops.
Drops earned by purchasing the game: 4 - Letting you know where the number above came from. For F2P games, there's probably something like "drops earned by in-game purchase: n"

Card drops received: 0 of 4 earned - You've gotten 0 of your 4 cards so far.
You can get 4 more trading cards by playing Left 4 Dead 2. - Self-explantory.

When you get all 4 drops it will look something like this:
Card drops received: 4 of 4 earned
You don't have any more drops remaining for Left 4 Dead 2.

You can only ever get half the amount of cards a game has from drops. You'll need to trade for or buy the rest. The exception is F2P games (mainly TF2 and DOTA2). You'll get an extra card drop for every x number of dollars you spend in-game.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Did you play the game after it got into the TC beta?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

@RainBoom: You get the cards when you play the game, usually there is 1 card drop per hour (not sure whether you need a certain total playtime) until you have all the cards possible.

So glad I sold all my cards, with all these new games that get added they will be worth 0.1$ soon.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The value of cards from one game has little to do with the value of cards in other games. If a person wants a Half-life 2 set, they can't complete it by buying Don't Starve cards, and vice versa. The only thing that will lower prices is an increase in the number of cards for a particular game.

1 decade ago
Permalink

How many cards can you get from Cubemen 2 ?

1 decade ago

5 cards. But they are already worthless.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks. I guess even with the 75% sale, you can bearly get back the investment.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can make a profit if you buy the 2-pack and give one to a friend on the condition that he gives you the cards, or activate it on an alternate account. At the current prices, you'll make about 40 cents per card. 10 cards = $4.

Well, if you go to the badge crafting page, you can notice that this is only the first series of cards. Maybe Series 2 will feature survivors, whenever it comes out. I know this is not entirely satisfying, but it's better than nothing :)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think this happens when you no longer have drops available and you have no more cards of the specific game in your inventory.

However, since your profile is private, I can't check if this theory is true.

So: Do you own FS? Did you already get all your drops? Did you trade your cards away (or put them in the market), so you no longer have any FS cards in your inventory?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I can confirm that this is the case. If you have gotten all of your drops, do not have any cards anymore, and did not yet craft a badge then the game does not show up on your badge page.

Bug? It was never a bug and it was stated several times, that you got some cards if you have bought anything on the Dota store prior to the release of the trading card beta. If you want to get card drops afterwards, you have to spend $9 for 1 card drop (same with TF2).

There was a "bug", that allowed users to get more than 1 card drop when buying an item (any cheap item, so basically you would be eligible to as many card drops as anyone who bought a cheap item before the trading card beta started) but afaik, it has been fixed in the second week.

Nope, I didn't even know about Steam until after TF2 went F2P.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There was a bug in TF2 that allowed people to go premium after the trading card beta and still get full card drops as if they were premium before the beta (in other words that purchase you made made you premium). However that bug too has since been fixed.
