Ah. Well, that might be why people stop trying to solve this. Either it truly has some deeper meaning, in which case it's not really a hint as in "simplification", or it's just a... I don't know. Something else that is not really a hint. I mean, the puzzle might be nice, but the way it's presented seems awkward.

It's based verbatim on another puzzle that forms the central plot point of a story, the solution to which is only alluded to in the entire archive of the internet.
It's not the puzzle itself that's driving people away. It's the lack of a desire to find, watch, and then scrutinize what is being referred to in hint #3.
