With things like Netflix already available, I know I wouldn't use this service.

I hope they don't add something like that to Steam. There are too many companies that offer that service as it stands. Steam needs to focus on gaming and software for the time being. Besides I hate keeping all my eggs in one basket.

What companies? Where can you buy the movie to have it in your online library?

That's what I was wondering. I thought most services were like cable TV, you pay for a subscription and then when you stop, you don't get to watch anything anymore.

Amazon, a small company called Apple has a little know service called iTunes that probably won't be that big of a deal. Google Play also offers movies. Mircosoft has their own store also, as will as Sony.

Edit* Vudu is another one.

No need to be a dick about it <3

I wasn't trying to sound like a dick. The crack about Apple is meant to be sarcasm since we all tend to forget they even exist at times since they have become such a large part of our lives. I mean honestly 10 years ago who would have thought iTunes would have the content that it does?

Ah just now seeing this. Sorry then, my bad ;_;
Nah, I just wasn't aware at all that they provide things like that. Too lazy too install iTunes, but pretty sure none of it is available for me anyway :(

No problem. I am mistaken for a dick most of the time. Even my two year old called me one today. I was so surprised I laughed so hard I almost shot milk out my nose. As they say there are only three type of people in this world.

I like that movie. I thought it was well worth the $5 I spent and I think it would be nice to maybe see more titles available but I wouldn't want it to try and turn into another netflix.

No, there are many other places where you can buy movies online. There can be problems with licensing and that means probably that this will be for long time US only and in small countries it will probably never (or very late) be available (e.g. there are only since 2010 movies in the iTunes store in Austria).

They have Indie Game The Movie (LOL I saw it free on TV)

Other than that, FUCKING SHIT IDEA!

Steam is for gamers, I was very disappointed when they added the software shop too (but what I thought would happen didn't happen)

I was disappointed that Steam was taking their attention off gamers and directing their attention to other things, like Software and as you suggested- Movies, and even music in the future.

Steam didn't take their attention off games, they added the software section because it has to do with games also. The only thing that I don't see that's gaming related on the software section is CameraBag 2.
Also music is already on Steam.

Music is on Steam, yes, in the form of game soundtracks, but it is handled very poorly and basically just DLC.

I really wouldn't mind if Steam had a "movie" section. I'd have a movie library in the cloud ;)

Eventually Steam will provide everything and we will acknowledge them as our overlords.

I hate "on-demand" stuff. But yeah, I would LOVE if they would have movies and TV shows sections. Imagine your favorite movie on sale for 2,5€. WOULDN'T YOU BUY IT? ;_;

Buy / Trade / gift / Sales with movies sounds good. A zone in your steam account with all your movies that u can see it on HD or FULL HD online always, when u want. I Like it.
Remember that much movies is based on games: Max payne, Resident Evil for example and much more.
I think in a mixed bundle, for example: Max payne bundle (games) + film :D

And... Remember STEAM ON TV
