Hey everyone!

As part of my dissertation which investigates Steam users' engagement towards Steam, I'm conducting a primary research regarding the topic.
I would greatly appreciate if you could spare a few minutes to complete this survey. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. I will not use the seperate answers, only the answers as a whole.

To motivate participation, I added 4 giveaway links to the end of the survey (don't rush through the survey though).
The games are the following:

  1. Yesterday (key)
  2. Space Run (key)
  3. Rise of the Argonauts (key)
  4. Tomb Raider GOTY Edition (Steam gift)

Also, those who bump this thread will be put on my whitelist. I have also made a giveaway for those on my whitelist, the game is Fancy Skulls

All the giveaways will be live until 16th March.

Thanks for reading and (hopefully) completing the survey! :)

Update1: Wow, guys, I am surprised and also very flattered by the fact how many of you completed the survey and bumped the thread! :) Also, I forgot to mention a few things (I had to rush to attend one of my classes):

  1. I removed the persons from my whitelist before the survey was introduced, but do not worry, I will add them once the survey is over.
  2. Those who bumped the thread will stay on my whitelist after the survey is over.
  3. I am NOT a Valve employee. :)
  4. Sorry if some of the statements made you feel uncomfortable or was hard to understand. I adopted them from academic studies.

Update2 There has been more participants than I expected, there are more than 890 answers, a big THANK YOU to all of you! :) However, as always, there have been some trolls who completed the survey only for the giveaways but fortunately this will not affect the results as I will screen them out.
I don't want to sound insatiable but it would be nice to reach 1000 respondents (because it's a nice round number and for segmentation purposes it's better).

Update3 The survey link will be available until 1 March, after that you will not be able to complete it. The results are expected to be shared in late March (as I will have to translate it from Hungarian to English and I also have a lot of things and projects to do mid-semester :( ) I will post the link in this thread and also create a new thread, so if you do not want to bookmark this thread, you can still come across with it. Once again, I would like to thank all of you to complete my survey! :)

I like them because they create the illusion that someone is interested in what I have to say oops.

finished but i dont understand why you associated steam to a feeling. I only use steam as platform.

Steam can be viewed as a brand (because it is actually a brand apart from being a gaming platform), and people can have feelings to brands :) But if you view Steam only as a platform, that's cool, too :D

Surveys with these kind of questions always makes me a bit uneasy :P
The only brand I can imagine invoking feeling of happiness etc would be Apple. That is, if we're not talking about sex toys or recreational drugs :D

I'm the opposite with Apple... that brand disgusts me. I'm totally on board with the latter options though! :D

I guess generally Apple tend to invoke rather strong feeling of ether kind.

That is part of my "locked" up. I miss owning my games on DVD.

You can burn your own games to DVD legally as a backup. The protocol's in Steam's settings menu. There might be some DRM associated, but if they were to lose all their master game caches, you'd be backed up. On top of this, there are still many major PC releases on discs, which come with Steam keys.

Just imagine burning your whole steam library on DVDs. That will be quite a pile.
For me that would be 260.06383 DVDs. So basicly 261.

That pile would be 4.176 Kgs heavy.

It's my favorite so far. But I would definitely choose Battlestar over it, if Battlestar had as many seasons. Or Firefly, for that matter.

... you really could handle more BSG?! I think I'm emotionally injured enough as it is.

For once I wasn't the only one whose fave character died.

Wait a minute - sorry for replying 5 days later:

What do you mean by fave character dying? I don't recall anything happening to Gaius. Am I missing something?

Interesting, I will like to see how many view steam as a strong enough brand to have a feeling about it, Good luck on your dissertations, I always hated doing them.
