Hey guys...i've my back to the wall. Only about 12 hours ago i used the steam programm as normal and played with some friends.since then my computer was shut off. Now i turned on my comp again and the steam programm cant find a connection to the internet.the thing is that i definetly have an internet connection right now.another weird thing is that i also cant reach the steam website vie my internet browser.it just says "timeout " and things like that. Using my cellphone i can logon through the mobile steam app and also reach the steam website. I also tried using a proxy on my comp for testing purpose. The result was that i can reach the website with proxy. Does steam in any ways ban ips from all of their services? I havent done anything wrong like cheating or something like that so i can not think of any plausible reasons for that.please excuse possible mistakes in my text.i amwriting this with my mobile phone because its the only way to login here since i also cant login here with my comp due to that this site uses steam login page.

So does anybody know how tosolvethat problem,?

First thing you should do is to check your PC for malware and contact support afterwards (Steam support that is, not this one)

This. Your ISP DNS failed probably

If you know how to do this:
Setup google public DNS, go to your network connections and setup custom DNS

8.8.8.8
and
8.8.4.4

and flush dns

if you don't know read online how to do it.

You should contact your internet provider support.

Did you delete your cache? You could use CCleaner for it or find it in your browser settings. A friend of mine had a problem with that a few month ago.

Try Google DNS's 4:4:4:4 / 8:8:8:8

+1 (except it's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
Setup info: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Also, ipv4 doesn't use colons, that's ipv6.

It probably won't do much good, but you can take a look here, if they blacklisted your IP chanches are it's blacklisted somewhere else too.
Additionally, if you have a dynamic IP you can just try to disconnect your router for about 15 seconds, you should get a new one.

Depends. You can disconnect my router all night if you want, and when you reconnect, the (supposedly) dynamic ip will be the same. Just because its dynamic doesn't mean that it changes, it only means that it can change these days.

I had this problem a few times.

Had to ask a friend via Skype to do the steam page for me. I reset my modem and worked fine.

Steam does not ban IPs. If they did, you would still be able to access your account but be very limited (after all you own different games) and you would defiantly be able to access their website. Problem is down to your pc I think. Mine was.

Could you be running a firewall that's got a bit overzealous?

Do you have the internet access in the bottom left corner? (if you have vista) If so then check for viruses
