If anyone else uses your credit card information for making any kind on purchase, you can go to your bank and tell them you did not make that transaction and they refund your costs.

I never heard that it's just a press of a button to get cash back, you have to go through many procedures and at the end of the day it's your fault if your info is stolen as you gave it to someone

Assuming Steam itself doesn't get attacked by an amazing hacker, then no. The only way you can get your credit card info leaked is if your own computer is infected with a trojan virus or a keylogger of sorts that takes your credit card information when you enter it.

Or you tell your password.

Your credit card details are stored on Steam servers, so you can't access them with your account. (As far as I know).

If you have your credit card info stored in your steam account you can't look at it but you CAN buy games and send them to another account.

I hate you people. "linux can't get infected with keyloggers and trojans".

Stop spewing this bullshit. Linux can get infected. It's just that viruses are mainly made to target Windows, but the Linux virus database is growing, and quick.

Game maker Valve has confirmed that attackers unknown have penetrated the Steam digital distribution network, POTENTIALLY making off with customers' personal details and credit card numbers.
Read past the intentionally inflammatory headline. "POTENTIALLY".
If I recall, they confirmed that no credit card information was leaked, and the statement issued by Valve was just a warning to watch for possible fraudulent activity on your cards.

"Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums," Valve boss Gabe Newell explains in a statement to his company's customers.

"We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information," Newell admits. "We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating."

So, you just admitted that they leaked. Hackers may not crack them, but they had access to them.

Didn't you hear more news like that? AFAIK every year thousands or even millions of credit cards information leak. Black market is full of them.
