I just clicked on the free button at the top and it steam popped up the download options and I'm currently downloading it. So thanks for the heads up. Maybe theres a free weekend soon and it hasn't been updated yet, idk I just hope nothing goes on with my account now lol

I pressed the button there and I think it was added as a free game (according to my list of activated stuff in the steam account), but just as a free game it does not appear in my list but on the store page it says I own it...weird..

From description:
Being a spiritual successor to the arena shooters of the late 90s and early 2ks, there is no levelling, no skill-trees, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight aiming. But most importantly: TOXIKK is NOT "Free-2-Play"!

IF IT'S A DEMO, WHY NOT CALL IT A DEMO?
The term DEMO has a defined meaning on STEAM that comes with specific technical restrictions. E.g. people who play a demo on STEAM cannot play online against people who own the full game. Which is obviously far from optimal for a multiplayer game.
Plus, THE FREE EDITION OF TOXIKK IS A LOT MORE THAN JUST A DEMO: It comes with the full core experience, has no competitive disadvantages versus the FULL GAME and let's you play TOXIKK for free for as long and often as you like.

It is NOT, I repeat NOT some f2p bullshit option. It is an old school demo with no time limits, and no competitive disadvantage. It just lacks some features and maps of the main game, but you can still play with all weapons, vehicles etc. and compete with others.
Try it out :)

Info on the free edition of the game w/ comparison to a standard paid copy:

There's a few instances were paid items can actually be obtained free in this manner.
The Talos Principle - Serious DLC - should be $3.
World of Fishing - Starter Pack DLC - should be $8.
There's probably more, those are just the ones I've noticed.

Haven't found any discussions about it so...
It's free if you click to "Free" button on SteamDB game page - https://steamdb.info/app/324810/
Game is still $12 for me on Steam Store, I have no clue how it works though =d
I'm personally just installling it now and if it won't allow me to play or if I'll face other problems I will update the thread!
UPDATE: found a video on devs' website, seems like it's a f2p version or a test =p
UPDATE 2: Game works and it seems very nice if you like old-school shooters!
