I have played only the beginning of Hexen and that is as far as I got. I had a lot of fun, but I don't know if it is worth 10$ to drop on the 3 games + 1 expansion. I know my WAD for some reason on Hexen (Zandronum) caused a door to stay locked and I couldn't exit unless I noclipped, so I also wonder if the Steam version of these games are the most updated (if they had patches at all).

So should I wait for a sale, or just go buy the collection? I am kinda tight on money, but I know I will enjoy Hexen 1 atleast. And I know to use a source port, as the DosBox config on steam is crap and I like mouse movement.

Also, I know I could just be a pirate and get the wads and stuff online, but I like having games in my library :)

I was planning on getting the whole collection (10 dollars). Is that still something I should wait for a sale for?

Yeah, wait until the sale. You could get it for $2.49.

You can always wait for a sale. Keep in mind though that id's games are discounted quite rarely, unless they get a random discount the next sale for that pack should be during the Quakecon.

When and what is the Quakecon? (Sorry, I am new to PC gaming!)

Quakecon is basically a gaming event that starts usually in June or July, that is focused on id and Bethesda games (Mostly id). Obviously, it started because of the popularity of Quake and was one of the (if not the) first gaming conventions, as it had started in 1996. It is considered "the Woodstock of gaming" by many. Usually, id, Bethesda, and Raven Software games go on sale during that time.

I will place it like this. Do you like the original Doom? If you do, you'll like Hexen. It is was made by the same team and expands the original concept by making like an adventure game.

Doom was developed by Id Software, Hexen was developed by Raven. Not the same team.

If you get enjoyment out of a game, yes I'd say it'd be worth it to be able to play of said enjoyable game.

I didn't buy during the last Quakecon, all I bought was Doom 3. I didn't know they wouldn't be on sale again really, this year I'm going all out on their old games.

I friggin waited for Doom 3 BFG Edition to come out. I was so dissapointed. Terrible console port. I should have gotten the original Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil.

I've got a laptop to game on, so it can mostly just run older games and indies. I heard that Doom 3 was decent for what it was, and I got it for $2.50 along with it's expansion. I actually still haven't played it though.

It's actually still a really good horror game, just not a great DOOM game. I've almost beaten the main game and it's still a blast.

Well, my question now is not necessarily if i will get it, but more of WHEN it will go on sale. I mean, it has been 2 years it says since it was 2.49, and it has been about 4 months or so since it was 5 bucks... I just need to know when the next Steam Sale is.

Screw it. I'm buying the thing. :P

Next sale will be around summer most likely so I'm just going to get it anyways because I will have more money by summer :P

Anyone recommend the best singleplayer sourceport? (Not zandronum)
