It didn't work for me. Managed to trade for DI gift with the winner of my giveaway (actually had to reroll him cause he managed to get my game before I had a chance to give it to him :D). Sometimes, karma's not a bitch.

VPN, and before all the uneducated tell me "you'll get banned" there are forums out there where lots of people have been doing this and nobody had gotten banned for it because it's not against terms of use. I even have 2 friend that have done it and they're still around playing games and they have never gotten in trouble. The banning is a myth and if you say stuff like that please provide proof.

Edit: As you can see by the replies on this comment, the uneducated can't read, can't provide proof, and made up stories to sound informed. This is exactly my point.

For those saying you have a friend who got their account "locked" now they have no account you should know that even people who do get banned still have access to their accounts unless they got them compromised in some way. If these people got banned and totally lost their account well..they were doing something else you're not aware of. Don't get this confused with using a vpn for buying games from other regions because YES you can get suspended for that, it's called "exploiting the Steam store" this happens to a lot of people. Also, make sure you know what a vpn is before saying "oh yeah my friend use one of those and his house caught on fire and everyone died".

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Just because you haven't seen it from personal experience it doesn't mean that it can't happen.

For proof do your own homework in the Steam forums - plenty of posts there with responses from Valve employees and their volunteer moderators...

TBH when I first got region locked key, I went to SG chat and asked if VPN for activating the game is illegal. One guy replied that he asked Steam Support and they said that it's legal and Valve doesn't ban for it. He was asked to provide a screenshot and he did (can't be bothered to search for it now).

...but that was not enough for me so I asked support myself. Well, among their gibberish you could tell that no, it's not ok.

I wouldn't take my chances (and I didn't, managed to succesfully trade it). Maybe on new Steam account made just for this game...

Awesome double win of Portal yo. rolls eyes

This is an exceptionally risky thing you're proposing, and coming from someone who appears to have no qualms breaking rules, it's not surprising.

Erm, if you check the EULA you are not allowed to use VPNs with Steam and any account doing so can be banned. Doesn't mean it will but it can.
