While I do agree on the Circle Pad Pro part to truly enjoy it, I don't think it's impossible at all. I recently picked up the game again after having played 170 hours of it last year (I had played the wii version for 300, so kinda got tired of it at the time) and started G-Rank no problems; I would say currently being in the second G-tier and still going strong it's not impossible to play at all; multi would be more fun, but it's plenty fun on your own.
E: And my 80+ hours these last three weeks approve of that statement :D

I just can't pass from Low Rank to High Rank.
I've done every 5 stars quest in the village, it seems I have to do the ones in the arena to unlock new quests but it's freaking hard. I have to beat 1 lagiacrus, I just can't. I use all my time and the monster is only close to die but not even going to.
After over 10 tries using 5 different gears without success, I rage quit. Frustrating game is frustrating.

There is no need to do arena quests for any kind of progress, if you have done every single quest of 5 stars so far I would say it's most likely that Junior holds a request for you, I advice you to check things out with him. If I recall correctly you need to make Cha-Cha a certain mask in order to unlock the Ceadeus quest and be able to progress to high-rank.

Okay, came here just to say Monster Hunter :) I had to sell my DS XL to keep us from going homeless, but I'm slowly working up the financial courage to want a 3DS, just for Monster Hunter.. Also its the last reliable home for the classic-style RPGs :>

Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Fire Emblem Awakening are in my opinion the 2 best games on the system, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Bravely Default, Tales of the Abyss, and the other 2 smt games (soul hackers and devil survivor) are also good.
