My first summer sale I'm going to participate, so got a few questions:

  • Is there any point in waiting to craft your badges (For Summer Sale/Mystery Cards)?

  • I heard there'll be community votes and auctions where you get Summer Sale Cards, too!?

  • Will there be people trading their cards 1 for 1 so one can complete his sets?

  • Will I be broke after the Summer Sale ends?

Thanks in advance!

After what happened last summer, I don't think we're going to see a color wars-like competition again.

I've currently got 29 badges waiting to be crafted. I'm waiting mainly because sometimes they give you rare items for other games like TF2 or CS:GO or DOTA that could be sold.

Usually the market for cards is pretty swift. You put a card on the market and you sell it almost instantly. You should also get 1 card for 3 community choice votes which happen every 6 hours I believe.

You will go broke.

If 3 votes, it will be 8 hours.
First voting event was 4 times 6 hours, then it changed to 3 times 8 hours and in last one 1 time 24 hours.

i personally hope they stick with 1 vote per day. don't like organizing my day around Steam summer sales :)

Same here. It's not like those votes are bringing us sales that we aren't getting from daily deals (I think only once they put somewhere in either flash or vote sale that wasn't in main/daily deal).

For me it would be impossible to vote 3 times a day, so I really hope it's once a day, far better.

There is a 1:1 trading group on Steam. It's a great and helpful community. I believe it is set to invite for a while now, but I want to complete some sets as well, so Imma add you, maybe we can help each other out.

Steam Trade Matcher is also a good way to find 1:1 same-set trades quickly.

already crafted most of my badges and sold a load of mysterious cards - since i'm expecting them to sell for 0.16€ a pop ... while i sold mine for roughly ~ 0.24€ per card > regardless of the event, i won't care nor do i expect it to be advantageous to wait for some random unpredictable event (other than profit for vulvo)

i guess you crafted them in the first hours...i checked the price the second day and the cards were 0.15 each

Price came back up after second day.
First day was high because cards were new and few.
Second day was low because not enough knew about the cards to buy them in advance.
Later price went up again once people found out about them.
Now price will go down once the market floods with cards from the flash votes.

I've already crafted a lot of badges , reached lvl 20 , which is good for receiving boosters (+40% chance), got a lot of myst. cards so Steam doesn't allow me to sell more, I have to wait 5-7 days from each craft to sell them on Steam market xD

If you're crafting badges go ahead and craft whenever you want.
If you're buying cards to craft them, wait till nearer the end of the sale.
If you're selling cards, sell them at the beginning of the sale.

And after the sale the cards disappear/become unuseable?

Probably, yes. It has been like that the past few years.

The event cards disappear. The bgs, emoticons and badge remain.

The cards won't disappear from your inventory but you can't use them anymore.

Sure? Maybe I'm wrong but I remember cards from the last Summer Sale Adventure disappearing form my inventory after the event ended ._.

It is best to craft badges during major seasonal sales, if you were already planning on crafting them, because a sale card has more value than a random coupon.

This. However, the sale cards' value varies depending on the event, the only fact is that it will always be worth less as the sale progresses because of voting.

Yep. Sell for profit early, buy to craft late. It will be interesting to see how the week long market lock on purchased cards effects the market. Could keep prices a little lower since you can't scoop up the lower price cards and sell them higher or it could drive them higher due to less supply.

It's better to not even craft sale badges, as even when they are cheaper they're still costly because of the 10 card set. Just sell all cards you get and buy extra games on sale.

That depends on why you're doing it. If you're only concerned about leveling then absolutely, there are much cheaper ways to level. Some people collect the badges as an actual badge collection. Personally I do a little of both, sell all my sale cards I get until the price bottoms out and then collect/buy enough for one sale badge and use the rest of the profit from early sales to craft badges I'm interested in.

Yep, if you must add the badge to your collection then you have a point.

I just crafted 255 sets of cards.
Had to use a steam extension to put the 750 odd items I got from crafting on the market. Got 5 foils if anyone is interested.
Got from level 41 to 79 for about $15.

No point waiting to craft regular cards. There is always a chance that there might be a mini game about them though. But if you wait too long price for mysterious cards will drop.

And yes to your last 3 questions.

A steam extension that allows you to mass create trades? I need that, what's the name of it?

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/steam-inventory-helper/cmeakgjggjdlcpncigglobpjbkabhmjl?hl=en

It lets you sell multiple items in one go for either the current lowest price or you can specify something like -1 or +1 than current lowest price.
