hello everyone im wondering which one to buy from the steam summer sale. i only have enough money to buy 1 or i could buy the fallout 3 GOTY and fallout new vegas with no dlc. i have played fallout 3 before on my xbox and i really enjoyed it and the 2 dlc i had but i only beat about 35% of the game on 1 or 2 play throughs so i didnt get very far at all. so i need opinions and advice from people who have played both games or at least have a knowledgeable idea about both games. so the main question is "should i buy fallout 3 goty and fallout new vegas, or buy new vegas ultimate edition, or only get 1 because the other is a terrible game or this ones better or what have you" so please help me decide because i only have $10 left. thank you for the help :D

UPDATE: YAYAYAY thank you guys for the response and from all of you i couldnt decide at all what to do. but my mom walked in and saw me frantically looking up info on the games and she looks at me and says "hey jon you know that if you just ask nicely and do all your school work over the next week (im taking online school) i can swing the extra $5. my eyes went wide and i said in my head (damn how am i going to tell the people on the forum that i can get both) lol thank you though for your responses its made me want to play both even more and even possibly get the earlier games later on in the year to play. :D

Fallout 3 for exploration and atmosphere or New Vegas for gameplay and action.

OMG search the forums, it's not like those threads are the 13th lost tribe of Israel. There's a new one each day of the sale.

Also, buy New Vegas.

Buy both. They're both great games. I personally like Fallout 3 better, though.

Both games are amazing.
I prefer Fallout: New Vegas over Fallout: 3, but you need to play Fallout: 3 to appreciate New Vegas more.
Also, make sure you play the first 2 fallout games before you play New Vegas.
So my choice is buy both, and if you want to get DLC buy the DLC for New Vegas, they are better in every aspect.

You get a better understanding of the series, and in Fallout New Vegas some characters talks about the things that have happened in Fallout 2.

I really don't want to spoil anymore. I'm not saying it's needed, since the game does not revolve around Fallout 2, but as I said before you have a better understanding of the series.

If it's just for the story, just watch a random "Let's play" series on YouTube. =รพ

Well not just for the story, but the gameplay as well. It was and still is top-notch. Remember these 2 games came out in the mid-to-late 90's. About 90% of the things that are featured in the modern Fallout games are still there such as Perks, multiple endings, sidequests, ect. It was a revolutionary game at the time. I highly suggest people playing these games because they are just as good as the modern Fallout games.

If you have windows 7, buy New Vegas because Fo3 is prone to crashing on anything newer than vista. If you have an older OS, buy FO3.

is there any way to play it on 7 (which i have) without it crashing by putting it in compatibility mode?? like does that help at all?

AFAIK stability of FO3 on W7 is just a Goggle search away.

i know but his comment seemed like he knew something about the issue and id rather ask him then searching google for an issue i dont have yet (i wanted to know is there a way to prevent most of the issues by doing that) (also im bad at searching google mainly for the fact i type to much in the search bar lol)

I know you've already shelled out and got both, but 3 seems stable on my windows 7 x64... once I'd found a configure tweak to make it use only 2 CPU cores rather than 4 (I've got a dual core CPU but 4 virtual cores... meaning the game crashed out every 5 minutes. I tweaked and then played some 4 hours with no crashes.

Buy both, FallOut 1, 2 and Tactics
You don't need them all, but by God, they are fun to play.

If you have to buy one, just get either. It'll more than likely keep you occupied until the x-mas sale. Both are amazing, tho.

Well you don't need to play the previous games to enjoy Fallout 3, but I agree with you. Too bad people will never play them due to how old the are.

Congrats of getting both games. If you're interested in the series buy the Fallout Collection by Interplay...Just don't play Tactics for the story.

Cool to hear. Enjoy them.

I personally played Fallout New Vegas shortly after it came out, because everyone was talking about it and it got my attention. Gave it a shot and LOVED it. I bought Fallout 3 GOTY during this sale, and am beginning to play it. Loving it so far. It's almost like seeing a movie prequel. EDIT: I'm playing it in Windows 7 with an i5 2500k, and so far no issues in the first hour of play. Although minimizing the game got it stuck, and that's why i stopped playing it right now. lol
