Why not only let people gift games if they have their inventory set to "Users Only - Viewable by any logged-in Steam user" or "Public - Viewable by anyone on the World-Wide Web"? Makes it easier to tell if a giveaway is legit or not.

Been suggested before.

Steamgifts will not force anyone to make their account public to everyone. Some people here want their privacy.

Because there are some legitimate keys that we can giveaway as well. And some people have their profile set to private for legitimate reasons aswell.

The worst they can do is sign you up for junkmail, and plus, I've never heard of a SG member complain about this.

Because some people like to make puzzles where they don't reveal the games given. Also not having it in your inventory isn't a sure thing that it's fake. Many ways of obtaining the games can give you a key instead of a copy in the inventory.

Why do people keep suggesting this? It's not like SteamGifts demands you to waste anything to get points.

You don't even have to waste a penny if you don't want to. If it's a fake giveaway it's not a big problem.

I would understand if the rule-breakers went unpunished, but that's not the case.
