not sure about the graphics card , but the rest can handle it. And skyrims not too bad unless you use mods.

yea medium would work

medium would work ,but not alot when fire exist or any other effect would cause frame drops.

Maybe try changing for budget cards if you're feeling it,

A radeon or any Geforce below their 450/5650 would suit you
128 bit memory interface maybe, you can run it at high w/ it at 30-42 FPS (can v -sych to just 30) at High

I'll give you a helpful tip: go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

In this website you'll find a list of games, and you can test your computer to see if it has the requirements to run the game. It's what I use everytime I have doubts if my computer is capable of running a certain game.

This will clear up your doubts, trust me.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. It says I can't run Skyrim, funny I have it and it runs fine on low. Then it says I don't meet the minimum for Darksiders, yet states that I am fine in every requirement for my video card.

Honestly, that is going to confuse OP even more.

Had a feeling it would! I have Skyrim and it runs smoothly on low. Your computer is better than mine. I have a dual core T4500 2.30 GHz Intel processor, Intel 4 series GPU and 4GB of RAM. If that makes no sense, the simple gist is that our computers are equal in RAM and OS, yours is superior to mine in graphics and processor. Therefore, you should be able to run it since my computer that is inferior to yours can.

That graphics card is really bad, I don't think you'll get much power out if it at all.

Graphics card is one series higher than my old laptop, I used to play it there, you should be able to run it golden mate.

Low isn't really that bad, the textures can look bad when you are right up next to them but it's probably as good as a console's quality...

1 decade ago
Permalink

Fairly sure the 5450 is better than (or at least pretty similar to my gpu) and it runs with custom settings midway between medium and high for me. Everything else in your computer is fine I think.

do you have amd radeon as well?

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

No, nVidia but if you go to videocardbenchmark.net and load the high to medium table and look up your card it'll give you an idea how yours compares with others. I can't seem to find my laptop card on there but fairly sure it only scored 30p ish last time I found it...

Your Graphics card should be fine, probably be able to run on medium pretty smoothly without a problem. Lower render distance all that good stuff. lol

I doubt you can even run Skyrim on low smoothly.

I have a fairly similar system.
i5-650
4gb DDR3 Ram
HD 6850

I had to overclock the CPU to 4.0 GHz to make Skyrim run with 60 fps at all times, but other than that it works perfectly.
Everything but Shadows and Item Draw Distance are maxed out, quite a few mods and the HD Texture DLC are running with it.

You probably want to disable v-sync and cap the fps to 60 with 3rd Party Software(Dxtory would be my choice)

Skyrim is not an intense game. It still the same game as oblivion with slightly updated textures. The game is only 5 gigs which tells you a whole lot about the quality of graphics. A game like RAGE (as shit as it is) was 20 gigs and the textures were quite amazing when they chose to load.

With a 64 bit os you should have more ram. It isn't required but it is good. Your gpu is also lacking but you should be able to run it fine. If not, I'm sure there are optimisation mods similar to those in minecraft.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's very well optimized, I have a shittier graphics card (HD 4350) than you and for me it runs so smooth on normal/medium graphics with low shadows

I have a similar PC you will be able to play on high even with a few texture packs(I used one that modified plants/trees/water/and weather, a polygon increasing mod(makes objects appear smoother) and a custom hi res race) played on high with a intel q7700 proccessor(2.4Ghz), 4GB Ram, and a Radeon HD 6670 on a 64-Bit Vista OS there were a few spots where my FPS dropped but for most the game I went mostly lag free

my computer might be old enough that it might be DDR2 Ram.. it was a cheap pre-built from Dell after all

How are you getting mixed comments, you should be able to run it at low setting if nothing else, just try the game and you'll see what better settings your computer can run without problem. If you only want to run it at high settings im not sure if it will work, but as it is everyone is telling you can run it. EDIT: I just saw the few comment below saying you can't run it, but it was posted after your comment so its not relevant to your sentence

I ran it on my shitty net book (on low settings) so you should be good.

1 decade ago

There are about 10 different sites you can check your PC performance for pretty much any game. You shouldn't ask a forum, you're guaranteed mixed responses because some people know your graphics card and some people don't and just want to sound smart.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, you'll be able to play it. Smoothly for an extended period of time is a different question though.
When I played I had to exit the game every so often to reduce the stupid lag that would eventually accumulate for whatever stupid reason. (Vanilla and Modded)
There are quite a few mods to prevent/fix that, none of which really worked.

And before anyone asks.
Intel Core i7 965 3.20

strange I never had that lag buildup.. maybe that is a NVIDIA issue?

I played for up to 6hrs at once(my PC specs are up a few comments)

i left it idling overnight and it worked fine the next morning, never had a lag buildup on it, just a random crash at one point

though im using AMD, so maybe it is an nVidia thing

Whats your 460? Se? 1GB 256bit/ 768mb 192bit. I also ran into this weird lag problem, though I only ever used it while modded extensively. If I entered and exited a building a few times it would clear up, or if I quit to menu then loaded back it would be fine.

I play it lagfull on low on my crappy (but better than yours) laptop :/

i play it 60 frames per second on high graphics with a hd 6670 so your graphics will probably be able to handle it, also remember to update your bios if you can.

Seems more or less similar to what I had, should be able to play medium setting easy, high settings reasonably well but maybe with some difficulty.

you can run skyrim on Medium quality without any mods installed(speaking from own EXP) and am 100% sure as i got all better but the graphics card was the same when i played it first(using a friends account)

I'm afraid there's no demo version of skyrim and there will never be. Bethesda is not the kind of company that releases demos, so you'll have to pirate.
