Elon Musk’s brain implant company has shared a video of a paralysed patient using the technology to play chess on a computer.
Neuralink, founded by Musk in 2016, has been working on an implant that will connect mind and machine.
On Wednesday the company released a video featuring Noland Arbaugh, 29, who lost movement in his arms and legs in a diving accident eight years ago. Arbaugh was able to move a cursor across a laptop screen using just his mind. He played chess and turned off the computer’s music.
“Basically it was like using the force on the cursor,” Arbaugh said, apparently referencing Star Wars. “It’s pretty cool, huh?”
