Hello,

I know there are some tech massive brainers on this forum that maybe can help me. I like to record some gameplay of the games I own. I will give an example, I am currently doing the open beta of "Path of Exile" and I wanna record some stuff. I also did some awesomenauts filming and Portal 2.

So here goes my problem: I am having problems with certain " lag " moments. For example in Path of exile I record at 35 fps ( I know youtube can only handle 30 blabla ). But the reason why it is on 35 is because it drops from time to time ... even below 30 ( like 27 ) and it causes to lag a little... I am using Dxtory with Lagarith Lossless codec. I do not think there is any problem regarding my pc specs. CPU does not go higher then 65% (so not full loaded).

Pc specs:

CPU - i7 960, 3.20 Ghz

RAM - 6Gb DDR3 1600Mhz

OS - Windows 8, 64 bit (legit)

Main SSD (Where my OS is installed) - Samsung thingy 120GB

Record HDD - WD 500GB

If you wanna speak in person to ask something more feel free to add me and to encourage some of u guys I will give the one that solves my problem a steam key :).

ADD 1: Awesomenauts and Portal 2 suffer from the same problem but just not as bad as POE.

ADD 2: Counter Strike Go, has this problem alot with my Pc.

Barring the required "lol Win8 lol", have you tried seeing if your recorder is running single core? If it is, move it to another core before recording. If Dxtory was not programed to take advantage of multiple cores (which is surprisingly common, even with modern software) it could be tying to core 0, which is likely in use and maxed by POE (considering your 65% usage estimate). If not, try recording at 30fps, capping your game FPS to 30 so it doesn't try to jump using the resources being used by your recorder, and drop some graphics.

Long term 1) Get some more RAM. 6GB is good and all, but more never hurts. Also, consider that PoE requires 2GB and Win8 x64 requires 2GB. I couldn't find req's for Dxtory, but I'll assume a minimum of 1GB, leaving 1GB of buffer, which isn't much for recording.

Long Term 2) You haven't listed your GFX card. What card are you running (make/model, RAM, slot type)?

wykydvamp --> This guy helped me. He recommended fraps and recording at 60 fps and it did not lag. So I will test out tomorrow. I wasn't expecting a solution as fast as this! But he will get his steam key for sure. My Gfx card is 5750 but it handles poe at max. Poe is also capped at 60 fps it seems so ... Ram should be sufficient.
