It seems Dota 2 is no longer allowed to be sold on the Steam market from what i can tell

Can anyone think of a reason why they would do this now?

Yes! Hopefully this will lead to no more DOTA 2 giveaway questions an trade offers soon.

a so that's why Steam was lagging when Dota 2 came to a anticipated game status, all the over 1 million copies were returning to their owners inventory

Ok, now I have to reload a lot of time the page os Dota 2 on the market, because is not loading, but this is normal, always happening when Steam is lagging, and when not too but less frequently

Edit: no, its not loading XD, your link yes, but not the page when I click Dota 2 there.

you cant go into the page as there are no dota 2s, they blocked them from being showed, just go to the results page for the search and you can see it there

Because they're finally releasing it as open beta, which might as well be releasing it, as it's F2P anyway.

I thought they werent doing that for another month or so, or were doing it in small bursts.

Whether they're doing it tomorrow, next week, or next month, I'd bet my bottom dollar that's the reason.

Wonder if this will result in people no longer trying to gift me a copy, or a surge of them since everyone has these copies back.

All those copies still exist. They just can't sell them. That is piles of copies that friends will try and make me accept.

Dota 2 is basically F2P now that there are so many invites floating around. If you want one just go to the dota2 steam page and request one of the bots to give you one. I don't know why are they even make a huge fuss about open beta or whatnot since it's so easy to get an invite.

PS. alot more smurf account will emerge soon.

Next step should be deleting those damn invites once and for all. Every single day I see people trying to trade those, and some of them are actually lucky doing it. I've been told some stories about trades these trades.. just sad stories : /
