Obsolete in two years.

Depends on whether you're willing to break that box apart and upgrade piecemeal every year or two. Although I'm willing to assume that people buying from DS are like Apple buyers and expect everything to plug in and play. If one thing breaks, the entire thing's out.

At least DS doesn't glue their components together.

OP is your choice this rig?

The specs seem to match so far. Also, for that price you can pretty much build two on your own and sell the extra to reap back some cash.

It's actually this one, the OP's post says in there somewhere "Digital Storm Syndicate".

Ack, even worse price. I loosely scanned for specs in the wall o' text. Add another $1k to that price tag and you can get a decent small server going.

Small? My company uses some Dell Poweredge servers with twin Xeons, 32GB RAM and 10TB RAID arrays for just a couple thousand each.

They won't be very good at gaming, but you can easily virtualize a grip of servers on them.

Does it come with a gun for those included bullets? Or did Obama ban that feature.

OHHHH I WENT THERE.

Good? Yes. Worth $3,130? No.

By the way, this thing is packing a six-core i7, a solid state hard drive, 1TB secondary, 16 gigs of ram, Geforce GTX 680, liquid cooling and they can't bother to throw in a sound card?

Kinda rude.

Sound cards are passe.

Sound card low/mid range are worthless and can be ignored as the latest motherboard are about equal to the, your'll find most have an okay quality soundcard already builtin (they are even separating part of the motherboard for it to avoid interference). However, high class soundcard with thx/dts surround sound boxed speakers, subwoofer, etc = cinema quality gaming / your'll never want to go back again. Well worth hearing ever footstep, pinpointing it's location and then being called a cheat for sniping him through the walls :P

I don't see subwoofers.

You purchase box set speakers separately and a subwoofer (2.1, 5.1, or 7.2 surround, whatever you want), however they are quite expensive for good ones. Then use a high fidelity sound card to boost audio performance 122dB or more with low 0.001% THD distortion! Listen to your music, listen to your games, listen to your movies... totally different experience, amazing quality, you even hear things normal pc speakers won't pick up on. I actually got scared first time trying it, a shotgun went off behind me in the game and I thought it was really behind me and sounded totally different, actually sounded like the real thing. It's what audio high fidelity freaks do, I'm not actually one, but someone pointed me that way and now I can't live without it. I also connect my electric guitar and stuff through it. Also, great in gaming and watching movies on your pc.

Oh god you could not be more wrong.

Try using some decent speakers like the Swan M10(If you don't want to go balls of the wall expensive) or a decent pair of headphones and you will notice a HUGE difference, and yes it is kinda ridiculous not to include a decent sound card in a 3k build....

Damn. As a gaming PC, my PC would probably be within a few FPS of what that could output for nearly $2000 less, yikes.

The specs are all good... but 3000$+ for that? No... Can get that kinda performance for 1000-1500$ less

I don't think your'll need 16GB, 8GB is optimal for gaming purposes and it wouldn't even use all of that. Also, do you really need the K CPU for overclocking, it's expensive and you will probably honestly never need to overclock. However, you have top quality computer specs, things I would of picked or looked at, GTX680 can run the latest games on ultra settings / max resolution with no lag (highly recommended graphics card). I'm happily getting 55fps+ on all the hardcore latest games set on ultra/max resolution, zero lag or issues with the Intel Z77 Ivy Bridge - 3rd Gen and that's future proofed as well - your's will be overkill, really nice if you can afford it but don't be afraid to tone it down a little.
