sorry to post here guys, but my usual hardware forum's are off.

I got a PC with DVI port. My monitor just have the VGA Port. If i buy a VGA to DVI converter, will I get the DVI quiality in my VGA monitor?

My monitor is a Compaq WF1907.

Thanks for your help guys.

Depends on the type of the DVI port if it works at all. Also, the quality won't increase in comparison to a vga port

I don't think there's a difference in quality. I'm using a VGA to DVI adapter and the quality is pretty good.

actually there is a difference, try with digital input capable monitor ... when i use DVI the image is clear and sharp, but with VGA there is a little hum, little distorsion and noise

I've used an HDMI cable before and I really can't tell the difference.

Did he ask if it works at all or if he will get the same quality as DVI ? ... That's why I said I don't think so. Sure it will work, but with quality loss...

no, you can't . your monitor has no digital input so you can't get digital input quality with adaptor, but will work as analog input with DVI->VGA adaptor ...

VGA - ANALOG
DVI - DIGITAL

You won't get a better quality with the converter.

You should take a look here, dvi vs vga
Bottom part is: even if you have dvi on your videocard, you'll still have the limitations of the vga( smaller maximum resolution among other things ),because your display is VGA.The only real benefit you would have is to use a dual link dvi cable, instead of a vga cable(because it is less prone to interferences and can support higher resolutions at long distances), and just get an adapter for dvi to vga at the monitors end.
